I was at JRTC right as that was happening and some local was like was, "We are so proud of your truckers..." and I cut her off with, "You mean traitors?"

Wait, they mentioned the KKKonvoy? The one that was completely astroturfed?

I used to come and go in civvies a lot mostly just for that reason, I don't want people saying stupid shit to me, even when it is completely well-intended. Now it takes me only a few minutes to get home, so I don't always, but then I get annoyed if I have to stop along the way for something.

If my own mother sent me an email about what a piece of shit she thought I was, and another member of my family sent that email to the New York Times, for example, I don't think I'd continue to seek to be a public figure. Certainly not in a job I was totally unqualified for.
