Someone posted big fat quiz of the year on youtube! I know what we're doing later. It's some good silly end of the year fun.

Did you know any families growing up that always had a seat at their table for friends of their kids - no questions asked?

I have no proof, but I believe Mary and Joseph were like that too. There was always space for one more - no questions asked. Everyone was included and treated like family.
Let us pray.

Immanuel,
Welcome all who call upon You.
Let us dwell with You in peace,
and find hope in Your rest.
Amen.

A blessing for our second week of Christmastide.

Are you attending the Taizé European Meeting in Paris next week?
Say hi! I'll be at the American Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. Along with our Bishop Mark and @jordanprins.com - we'll be extending hospitality, welcome, & supporting Taizé as thousands of pilgrams journey for a week of prayer. ⚓

I'm wildly jealous of fellow ministers who have families that believe in their calling and encourage them. Yes, God is enough, but I imagine it must be really lovely and heart warming.

This Christmas dinner we experimented with an Aligot inspired twice baked potato. It was amazing. Not quite half cheese and half potato like aligot, but so good. We made enough for dinner tomorrow too!

Check out these fresh Collects for Christmas! I expect to finish all the collects for our breviary in 2025 (English and French) and make good progress on our invocations and petitions. There are a lot of words in a breviary.
Let us pray.

These are the Urban Monastic Collects for #Christmas. The first is for the evening of Christmas Eve. The second for Christmas Morning. And the Third is for the the rest of Christmas day and evening!

Here’s to you, here’s to me, here’s to Christ who came to be…. present among us. It’s late and I’m out of rhymes. #ClergyMaltClub

It is 5 minutes until 8pm. The church bells at Église Saint-Denys du Saint-Sacrement are ringing into the dark night sky as the winds howl through the streets and rattle our windows. This night, a child will be born in a stable. New peace has come. Love will guide those who choose to follow Him.

This is one of my favorite things I've written. Enjoy reading or listening to this telling of the Christmas story from the perspective of the shepherds to whom the angels appeared that night.
A Meditation from Urban Monastics for #Christmas: Hallelujah! Immanuel & Christ

In the dark of night, Jesus, the light of the world, was born. Shepherds were invited into the heavenly celebration of his Birth. The first invited to gaze upon Christ. Our Lord. Our Immanuel. Hallelujah.

For those of us who wear white robes as a part of our vestments... how do we feel about this top hat? It feels like it is right out of a Dickens story (as at least one priest and one bishop have already mentioned 😂). I walked past this on the way home from church today. Should I get it? ⚓️

"When the shadows have come and the world has gone cold, Jesus is with you. He is there. He cares for you. He will never leave you. No matter what you’ve done or how you live your life, He is there and loves you. His light will not flicker, nor His love fade." 🔥🔥🔥
A Meditation for our fourth week of #Advent: Eternal Light, our Christ

Our Christ was born into a world that was far from perfect. He illuminates the darkness and stands apart in shadows. Jesus, the light eternal, come to us when our lives are far from perfect.

I’m sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

The page after page of redactions and lack of Trump's name in today's Epstein files release will do nothing to encourage girls and women to report rape and sexual assault which, in this day and age, are still the most underreported crimes. Today is discouraging in more ways than one. 😡
