In which Zack Budryk perfectly captures the feeling many #ActuallyAutistic people feel in this particular moment of RFK Jr.'s resurgence: We felt like we were turning the corner on autism acceptance. And now we are seeing that door closed off.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Our cultural decline wasn’t because of jeans and ball caps.
It was decades of whiny people complaining about having to be nice to others, fetishizing the individual over the community, and every single person involved with “A Nation at Risk” and the reaction to it.
George was right, and the trend of men dressing like little boys with baseball caps and shorts year round was part of our overall cultural decline.
I remember when George Will wrote a whole op ed on how distasteful wearing blue jeans was.

If the Republican position is "Republicans should get away with committing crimes in public office" and the Democrat position is "Republicans should get away with committing crimes in public office" then the result will be that Republicans keep getting away with committing crimes in public office
There are going to be prominent Democrats and mainstream media voices who insist that we have to "turn the page" and "forgive and forget" and they should all be roundly ignored, if not mercilessly mocked.
It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

Remember how just months ago we were reading from political reporters how Democrats were lost and in a terrible position as a party? Political scientists like me said that was wrong & it reflected reporters' lack of contextual & historical understanding of politics. We were right.

Pope Leo to young people just now: The Church doesn't belong to any political party. Rather, She helps form your conscience.

A needed message for young people, who are too often being falsely told by conservatives, like white evangelicals were, that if you're Catholic you must be a Republican.

The Trump administration is trying to sell federal student loans to private companies.

This sale would be a giveaway to wealthy insiders at the expense of working-class borrowers and taxpayers.

It’s a tremendous mistake, and I’m fighting back.
Warren urges Trump administration to 'immediately cease' student loan selloff plans
Sen. Elizabeth Warren is attempting to stop the reported selloff of the $1.6 trillion student loan portfolio to private companies.

Right, if someone asks you this, your response should be to raise your eyebrows as high as possible, blink twice in an exaggerated fashion and then say slowly, "I'm sorry ... are you asking me why we should *care* about a sex trafficking ring of pedophiles that apparently includes the president?"
The question is ridiculous, but the smugness in the delivery is what really gets me. Also, Suozzi's namby pamby answer is pretty weak too, so all around good times.
Margaret Brennan to Tom Suozzi: "Can you explain the focus this past week in the House by Democrats on the Jeffrey Epstein files? Is this a tactic to distract from the failure to extract healthcare changes?"

Someone has to publish this.
I'm wrapping up a narrative long-form feature on the opioid epidemic with a news hook of Trump's fentanyl-related tariffs that are part of the SCOTUS case. My editor decided to kill the story Friday, less than a month until the targeted publication date.

Mind if I pitch it to you, please?
