John Roberts: Good morning, counsel. Before we begin, I understand that there is an update to the caption in this case?
Me: Yes, your honor. My client recently changed their name.
JR: Alright. And what is your client's new name?
Me: Webster Bivens, your honor.
JR: <covering the mic> oh shit
This is goddamn insulting. The fucker knew what he was doing was wrong, did it anyway, and loudly and repeatedly lied about it to try and cover it up. He's exactly the sort of power-hungry shitstain such laws are meant to deter, and he deserves all the punishment he could get.

I had 2 classmates who clerked at scotus. One was FedSoc, and clerked for Scalia. The other was not FedSoc, and clerked for Kennedy.

One of those justices retired, and the other one died in office while my classmate was clerking for him. Correlation or causation?

MAMDANI: And I just think that there are barriers, barricades, to helping Americans that we can break down
TRUMP: Uh huh
MAMDANI: And breaking down barriers? Reminds me of a certain Broadway show *smiling widely* where they worked together to break a barricade?
TRUMP: *sitting bolt upright* Phantom

This is a pretty exhaustive takedown by Judge Ellis, going through DHS claims versus body cameras.

Also, fuck ICE.
THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

We're having a much-needed bout of weather in Phoenix right now, but it's manifesting in a lot of microbursts. Last night we got sudden-onset hail that was so loud I couldn't hear another person talking in the same room.

Here's some video of me concerned my skylight would shatter.

Today is the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Trans people have literally always been here; every time I see someone sneering "oh but there were no trans people when I was in high school," well. I dated a trans girl in high school, and was close friends with a trans guy.

Well I guess that turns on what was exchanged as part of "a tip or something," Greg. If he tipped his doorman with a free trip on Child Rape Airlines, I would like to know more about it.

(Also, funny how the pendulum has swung again on "there's nothing in those files, total nothingburger")
Rep. Greg Murphy: "I do have some concerns because these files are voluminous and just being named does not make you guilty. If Epstein gave you a tip or something if you worked at a door or something, it doesn't make you guilty of a crime."

What an incredible own goal, and perfectly timed to come just after California approved their retaliatory gerrymander that was not based on race and is therefore technically "legal."
This opinion makes it very clear that Trump's Justice Department screwed up badly here. Texas could've just drawn a partisan gerrymander and gotten away with it. Instead, the Justice Department (unnecessarily) injected race into it, directing Texas to draw an unconstitutional *racial* gerrymander.

Not that they couldn't just change their minds again, but this is going to be a relief to a lot of people.
1. In a major update, the Trump administration has reversed course publicly, and now says "all passports" will remain valid until they expire for transgender people.

This comes after many outlets reported a message that indicated passports could be revoked.

I would love to hear from people who have experience with this company. Because right now there are like 3 providers in the entire state of Arizona that will do gender affirming care for minors.
