NEW: Maricopa County Tells Judge To Stop Harassing Them About Costs In Long-Running Sheriff/Racial Profiling Melendres Case

Judge had told them the Sheriff's Office first raised the cost issues, needs to make sure they're accurate.

UPDATES: (1) We have confirmation that the Petition has now been filed; and
(2) The State has filed - UNDER SEAL - 1483 pages of grand jury transcripts (from 13 days of testimony), and 966 pages of exhibits given the grand jurors.

BTW, the AG's Office declined the opportunity to answer our questions about the decision-making process, and whether reaction to Mayes's November 7 interview with @brahmresnik played any role. (Her non-committal answers led most to assume she would not appeal.)

"The trial court erred in two respects. First, it imposed a novel duty on prosecutors to instruct the grand jury on a non-criminal federal statute that provided no defense to the charges and was otherwise irrelevant..."

Y'know what this means: The 30 day deadline for release will fall on 1 of the deadest Fridays of the year, just before Christmas.

And, if things go as I expect*, victims/survivors & Congress will be spending Christmas drafting suits.

Valid concern. It was up to Spilsbury to check as soon as the signatures were turned in.
Makes me wonder if the signatures for the Mesa District Two council recall were legitimate? Paid circulators gathered signatures door to door, ignored me guessing because I’m registered as an Independent but wanted my wife to sign (she didn’t).

BREAKING: Fmr lawmaker Austin Smith has reached a plea agreement, guilty of two charges (1 misdemeanor, 1 Class 6 undesignated) for forging nomination petitions.

He admits signing a deceased woman's signature, and to submitting other forgeries. 5 year ban on running for office.
