He/Him. Same as at that other place.

trump and his unelected mini me are destroying our country and most of our electeds are too timid to do anything about it.
Every time I cook something my dog looks at me expectantly like he's going to get to try a bit and I have absolutely positively no idea why he'd be under that very accurate impression.

This is fucking gross.

They can't find money for food for our most vulnerable neighbors, but they can find money to pay off senators. This is just outright corruption.
This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.

And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?

Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

This is an interesting video.

Off topic, one of the things that stood out is that the co-founder and the CEO both wore their Costco name tags front and center - just like they expect employees to do. That says as much about the culture that they've worked to foster as anything.

I have a lot of respect for Christine Pelosi running for state Senate and working her way up instead of just expecting to be anointed to the seat her mother is vacating.

Thing about the shut down compromise occurring now that I can't wrap my head around is,

1. Dems had significant electoral success less than a week ago;

2. The massive inconvenience the shut down will cause & resulting anger at GOP will continue to grow in lead up to Thanksgiving in JUST 2 WEEKS.

Apparently health care was, actually, negotiable, wasn't it @shaheen.senate.gov?
Health care isn’t negotiable.

We need to both reopen the government and work together to protect access to affordable health care by extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.

Here's a little bit of decent news for today.

It still sucks that a person's right to marry who they love is subject to the whims of 9 people who are insulated from the rest of the world through lifetime job tenure, but at least they got to the right result this time.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court denied an attempt to challenge Obergefell v. Hodges, the case affirming marriage equality nationwide.

Our freedom to marry remains the law of the land.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Tuesday's election results in Virginia, Georgia and Mississippi sent a really strong message and it's like Schumer and his merry band of 8 capitulaters have no idea how to read the outcome of that election.

@captmarkkelly.bsky.social @gallego.senate.gov it's well past time to replace Schumer as Senate Minority Leader. He's weak, feckless and ineffective and not up to meeting the moment at hand. We need a strong leader and he's proven over and over during the past year that he isn't.

Evergreen post
Schumer is entirely ill-equipped for this moment.
It is time to look to the future.

The challenges that face America are many and great.

The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.

You know what would make Johnson's indefensible refusal to swear in Congresswoman elect Grijalva irrelevant? One more GOP rep with decency & morality to sign the Epstein discharge petition. If that happens then refusing to swear in Grijalva becomes pointless.

But it's the GOP so I'm not optimistic.
It’s been 45 days since Adelita Grijalva was elected by the people of Arizona.

Mike Johnson is still refusing to swear her in because she’s the final vote for the discharge petition to release the Epstein files.

He simply has no idea what to do at this moment. We've seen him struggle to handle fully scripted moments - he does not have the cognitive ability in this unscripted moment to know what he should do or how to react. Whether it's dementia, a stroke or just age, this is 25th Amendment territory.

Mark my words - with today's acquittal of sandwich guy in DC, ANTIFA is going to be in the streets throwing sandwiches at poor, helpless, unprotected ICE agents on a daily basis now. The streets will run yellow with mustard. It'll be anarchy.

I don't know if a civil society can withstand that.
I'm going to say this very plainly so everyone understands: if sandwich guy isn't convicted, people are going to feel like they have full license to throw sandwiches at each other in the streets willy nilly with no consequences. What's next - Squishies? We must end this now!! #FootLongsForJustice
“This case, ladies and gentleman of the jury, is about a sandwich.”

Closing arguments from the defense in the DC sandwich guy case are now underway.

I know NYC was the headline election, but IMO Virginia was the more telling election yesterday. The Dem sweep of the Gov., Lt. Gov. And AG plus picking up at least 10 seats in the House of Delegates is more indicative of where the general electorate is at right now than the NYC mayorial race is.
November 5, 2025 at 8:29 PM
IMHO:
-Dem wins in VA & NJ statewide races are much more representative of the national political landscape than NYC

- Dems should generally be emulating VA & NJ campaigns going into the midterms

- NYC reminds us all politics is still local & Dems MUST address local issues & fix local problems
November 5, 2025 at 5:58 PM
Anyone think that the Dems clean sweep tonight will motivate the Reps to get off their ass, open the government, restore ACA subsidies and make SNAP payments to try to head off the same result occuring 12 months from now?

Even though that's the message they should be getting, I doubt it. Thoughts?
