Why does a senior Senate Democrat think that our country's relationship to another country ought to be primarily contingent upon that country's relationship to Israel?

It should be needless to say but it's a bit strange, Israel isn't the US and this method obviously limits American maneuverability.

Absolutely wild that the party whose president keeps threatening war with NATO is better on national security. Real failure of messaging there (not assigning particular blame)

Will Stancil is a litmus test for whether or not you understand how to build a strong and effective movement for political change.

If you care more about the cool kids' club zeitgeist than about what he's actually accomplishing for the cause, then you're a wrecker putting your clique over results.

YAYYY! Let it snow let it snow let it snow
The National Weather Service in Raleigh is now predicting up to 9 inches of snow for central North Carolina this weekend. That’s close down the Bojangles kind of weather.

"I got arrested by ICE and all I got was this photographic evidence proving to my kids I was once dope as hell"
I'm starting to think the Trumpist mastery of propaganda is failing them. The DHS agents posing this way makes it look like they're ashamed of themselves.

Look, academics have done a lot of work on Shakespeare. Once you have mined Hamlet a few hundred thousand times, what's left?

No one appreciates genuine novelty in the humanities. What are they supposed to do, write about Titus Andronicus

We are now losing our democracy because we inadvertently created wealthy parasite contractors who saw that government was slowly building good technology culture, so they used their wealth to crush government
You’re not alone on this shouting into the void. My main soapbox issue is that both federal and state govs refusing to create good technology cultures has enabled infinite grifting by tech contractors like infosys Deloitte etc where we pay 80x the cost to get shit forever.

The fact that a Democrat has never been head of the FBI in its entire history rivals the fact that liberals have not had a SCOTUS majority in 56 years as the most bonkers statistic in 🇺🇸 politics
I swear to god if we never get to have a woman or a Democrat lead the FBI he should at least wear a fucking suit all the time.

The way that the administration has systematically torched its ability to credibly make a deal is going to make literally everyone worse off. I hate that we managed to elect the worst people.
These requirements need to be crimes and they need to be prosecutable by states, or else they are meaningless.
• Independent federal-state investigation of ICE murders & tactics.
• ban on face masks.
• body camera requirement.
• ban on roving ICE patrols.
• ban on “administrative warrants” that bypass judges & violate the 4th Amendment.
• no arrest quotas

Honestly I’d trust fucking Seth Moulton more than Bernie
I can think of several pretty normie centrist politicians I'd trust to abolish ICE more than Bernie.

Last year one of the kids broke an arm, but I'm pretty sure he's one of the ones out there today.

I think this is the wrong direction to take. I would argue that a president has no right to pardon individuals acting (directly or indirectly) on his behalf, as an extension of principle that no one can be judge in his own case.
Pardons issued by an impeached and criminal president should be nullified.

The US Supreme Court dragging its feet on issuing a ruling about the legality of Trump's tariffs is really doing enormous damage to both the USA and also the the entire global economy.
“If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A.”

Big news in Colorado: Conservatives succeeded in getting a pro-ICE measure on the upcoming ballot.

This'll be a big one.
Colorado voters will be deciding this year on a conservative-backed constitutional amendment to require collaboration with ICE.

The SOS just announced that this proposal qualified for the ballot, background on it here from @coloradosun.com: coloradosun.com/2025/12/22/w...
Would Initiative 95 require police in Colorado to work with ICE?
Yes. If passed, Proposition 95 would require police to alert immigration authorities after some arrests, if a person's immigration status is unknown.

I’m not saying Dems should focus on ICE exclusively. Politicians can and should talk about multiple things.

Nor am I demanding specific wording, such as “abolish.”

Just stop approaching the topic with fear, as if 2024 is the fixed and true public opinion, and nothing that happened since matters.

If I were a very rich guy I would hire like 4-5 ex-DOJ prosecutors at whatever their salaries were and have them work 40 hours a week on developing legal theories for how to criminally charge these people
The head of Trump DOJ's Civil Rights Division boosts prediction markets placing 36% odds she'll be able to prosecute Don Lemon for his journalism, after a federal magistrate judge found no probable cause of a crime.
