I lived overseas for 18 years and NZ had a good reputation at the beginning, but it was starting to fray with people asking me if it was really green and lovely. It became harder to answer when respective National govts kept undermining our image with their choices & behaviour on the world stage

The absolute lack of negotiating skills on Luxon’s part is astounding.
It’s like he walked in saying “I don’t care what I have to agree to. I just wanna be PM”.

If you are a parent, and your kids' school is not on the list, email the board of trustees and ask them to join it.
Great interactive resource here from Tania Waikato / Chris Abercrombie of schools that have publicly committed to giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Locally, I'm disappointed Fairfield Intermediate, Fairfield Primary & Woodstock aren't listed yet.

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his “I’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say “what the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

I think Labour have a conference coming up - if you’re a Labour Party member and an ally please could you make this point:

It’s really hard to believe you’ll stand up for healthcare access for any community if there’s official silence now.

This is a test - and we’re already normalising silence.

#nzpol Pay attention Aotearoa New Zealand.

In AoNZ, Neonicotinoids are most commonly used as a seed coating to protect seedlings from pests during establishment. A single neonicotinoid-coated seed can be enough to kill a songbird.

We need to change.

the way that nz media feels comfortable stalking and reporting on prominent women in this country is actually fucking disgusting

its both a reason AND a symptom of the way powerful people in NZ routinely escape consequences for abuse and misogyny. NZ media need a clean out

It's being reported that New Zealand has banned puberty blockers for transgender youth. I removed New Zealand from my recommendations to families fleeing a while back after the far right saw a surge in power in the country.

Sad day for NZ trans youth.

Growing one bag of lettuce at home can cost just $0.30 to $0.50, depending on your setup.

Store-bought lettuce is around $3, and a lot of it doesn’t even get eaten—wilting too fast or full of pests.

For a family of five, that adds up to around $1,000 a year 🌱

Sorry you had to wait 10 months for your cancer surgery – a politician needed to save 10 minutes getting to the airport.
$4 BILLION to save 'up to 10 minutes' during peak traffic. Fucking hell - imagine what that $4B could do for housing, education, health, etc, in Aotearoa.
