Adding to this, it might seem like volunteering to be the note-taker will make you seem plugged-in and helpful; but actually it can make other people perceive you as there to support the people doing “real” work
A piece of advice I was given early in my career and believe is good is that if you’re a woman on a team of mostly men don’t jump to take on the caretaking tasks unless they are actually your role. Don’t organize the team dinner. Don’t bring cookies. Don’t make a chore chart for the common areas.

Friendly reminder: there is no right to “free speech” in Canada. There never has been. We have freedom of expression, but there are rules around hate speech and anti corruption rules built into our non partisan election laws.
