New franchise idea: the Lord of the Dance, the Lord of the Flies and the Lord of the Rings in The House of Lords. A flatshare comedy. A conjunctival eye atop a tower, a pigs head impaled on a stick and Michael Flatley share a house.

Ireland, Day 1056 of The Rain. Everything is saturated to the grey of the sky. Moss covers every surface. The outdoors sounds like constant static. The entire staff of Met Éireann is on mental health leave. I’ve forgotten what dry clothes feel like.

It is still a yellow weather alert.

Here we go again.

We need an “agent of change” principle in this country. They knew there was a club there but skimped on the sound proofing.

This stuff is on purpose. They shouldn’t be rewarded for it. It’s entirely their own fault.

I know I am a bit bee-in-bonnet about this and a lot of it is because I am enraged by the effect on buses, but while the proposed greening etc. looks lovely, there's very little about what will make people actually want to hang out in the area other than carlessness and ... vibes?
The College Green plans have been released by Dublin City Council and another Consultation opens today

Really great to finally see what this transformation will look like

This story about a couple that created over 20 kids through surrogacy is INSANE. And what's more insane is that so many other rich freaks are doing it. Hoarding wealth and building legions of descendants to rule the post-apocalyptic wastelands. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

So hang on, there's "huge need" for all these short term lets for tourism but apparently the people who own them shouldn't have to go through any kind of process which would ... assess if they were needed?
This confirmed by the Taoiseach in the Dáil just now – a significant backtrack by the Government in the midst of an acute housing shortage, now allowing more properties to stay in use for short-term lettings without needing to register/amend their property designation as 'commercial'

So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but to speed up infrastructure the govt is planning to bypass: 1) public consultation, 2) the ability to take a court challenge, 3) ministers (elected TDs). So who is going to be making these decisions?
Plan to bypass ministers in bid to cut red tape and speed up major infrastructure projects
Ministers will be bypassed for major infrastructure projects under new planning rules aimed at cutting red tape and shortening the delivery time by 20 weeks.
