Okay, this government jumping from “of course we’re not going to stop communicating on Twitter” to “ban it” would be very, very funny
BREAKING: The United Kingdom is considering banning X, per the Telegraph

Homophobia on parade...!
theres so much horrible shit about the murder of renee good, but there is something deeply terrifying about the way everyone from media to politicians have erased her wife from the story. ive seen far more mention of her late husband than her wife who was sitting next to her when she was murdered

They got this wrong. The smart "play" would be to offer up that ICE agent as a "bad apple". The more they insult Good, next to a photo of America's sweetheart holding her little boy, the more they try to murder her character, while that video of her murder plays, the angrier people will get. 2/2

"The Dictator's Dilemma" in action. The more cowards and flatterers they pick as advisors, the more their underlings distort reality to please their bosses. And the longer that goes on, the more they detatch from true national sentiment.

I think the death of Renee Good could swallow them whole. 1/2
JD Vance supports murdering American citizens. He's made that perfectly clear today. If he's willing to defend the murder of Renee Good, he would defend your murder, too.
JD Vance accuses the slain Renee Good of perpetrating "an attack on federal law enforcement, an attack on law and order, and attack on the American people"

"That woman was there to interfere with a legitimate law enforcement operation," he adds, repeatedly referring to her as "that woman"

it would probably also implode UK journalism

this is also a positive
Honestly think that if you pulled twitter from the App Store and shut it down it would fuck up the entire right wing ecosystem at that point. Like the entire media apparatus would fall apart.

Had a lovely chat with my Tesco delivery driver about the weirdest substitutions he'd ever seen or heard of. His 'winner'? A customer who had ordered sanitary products and received *a mop head* instead.

Sky News on Renee Nicole Good murder: "There are deeply conflicting accounts of what happened."

REALLY? Gonna both-sides this? One "account" can be seen on video and is confirmed by a dozen eye-witnesses. The other is a social media post by history's most notorious pathological liar.

Grow a spine.

Amongst everything else, I'm thinking about how eager the UK press were initially to swallow the Met's lie that Jean Charles de Menezes was a terrorist after they executed him in a tube station

Define “bait.”
Governor Walz says he's prepared to deploy the Minnesota National Guard if protests become violent in reaction to ICE fatally shooting a woman in Minneapolis.

"We will not take the bait," adds Walz, saying he's also angry but demonstrations should remain lawful.

The US government is now freely killing people at sea, in other lands, and on its own streets.

It is difficult to see what more is needed for Congress and the Supreme Court to exercise their constitutional duty to check and balance what is now a rogue state abroad and a gangster state at home.

Tell you what’s weird - when a band you really like breaks up, the singer/songwriter hints towards things being catastrophic when everything imploded, while also celebrating everything that the band was without going into too much detail.

Evidently, what went on is none of my business, but still.

seems fine that the government is leaving the investigation of AI creation of child sexual abuse content (a crime) entirely to an organization whose previous investigations include pre-watershed swearing in Emmerdale and a barfing contestant incident on Dick and Dom's Hoopla
Keir Starmer's spokesman tells me that X and Grok's creation of sexual deepfakes of children is "completely unacceptable" but again won't commit to taking direct action against them, or to stop posting there.

Says "all options are on the table" but suggests it's a matter for Ofcom, not Government

Not seen, technically, but the last episode of Cabin Pressure was the opposite of GoT in that it retroactively made the entire series even better – and that took some doing. (I suppose one could argue that Cabin Pressure is the Platonic opposite of GoT in practically every way.)
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

I’ve really enjoyed @sturdyalex.bsky.social’s assessments of Kemi Badenoch whenever the topic’s come up, and it’s nice to see that she’s SO consistent. I hear she’s been pushing a “Trump was right” soundbite as well, because of course.
Badenoch has a remarkable ability to be rebarbative in any context. The first sentence here is totally unnecessary.

It was famous for being so delicious and great to bake with.

That’s because it was actually cake batter.

It’s important to be at the Nazi Nonce club to provide a counter-narrative to all the nazis and nonces.
Cabinet Office Minister Baroness Anderson tells the Lords the Government will keep on using X.

"I still believe that X is an appropriate platform to use because I believe in freedom of speech..."

"It is incredibly important that there is a counter narrative on those platforms," she says.

"Operators are under obligation to act appropriately. We always hope they would do"
