I'm proud to announce Reality Drift, a roguelike racing game where your choices matter. Race through a series of strange worlds, choose upgrades for your car and decide which track will be next - your decisions are just as important as how you drive!

Apologies to @emilylorange.bsky.social for making her draw this character.

Like all the characters in Reality Drift, John Stonks is a tyrant who ultimately gets his comeuppance.

Imagine if you had to go through Sen's Fortress every time you fought Malenia
I finished as much of Sinner's Road as I can, so I'm back here now. Maybe it's time to quit again.

I'm going to resume Silksong. On 28th Sep I died with lots of money, deep into Sinner's Road. I have not played since. I'm sure everything will be fine.

the fact that journalists keep asking chatbots to comment on responses they gave to a different user in a different context window on a different computer is so weird. it's like booting up mario and asking mario why he fell in a pit on your friend's nintendo in 1998
An AI chatbot does not have PERSONHOOD. It has no agency. It cannot meaningfully apologise. It cannot speak on behalf of another. It cannot speak for itself; it has no self. Stop asking it for quotes for articles. Stop printing its quotes.

1. Headlines everywhere today read "Grok apologizes."

This is bullshit. A chatbot is not something that can apologize.

Pretending otherwise is simple laundering these companies' bullshit about what AI is, while diffusing blame away from the human beings that developed and released this system.

right, like someone else replied to the apology asking it to do a non-apology and it did that too! there is not a little guy in there who's sorry! llms do not work that way!
Also it only "apologized" because a user told it to

there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

As soon as I heard on the No Such Thing as a Fish podcast that there are zero 'X's on the Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower clock faces, I had to look it up to check. Surely I would have noticed that before?

Okay, I will preface this with the GIGANTIC disclaimer that I promise I know how this looks, and I *swear* this is not personally motivated: If you have an old #LiveJournal account, and it has things you still care about in it, download it or import it to Dreamwidth SOON. Details:

Adding to this: you should always have something planned for two months away. Gig/trip/social thing, whatever.

is good for brain
Give yourself something to look forward to next year. Something less substantial than a resolution which can carry regret if you can't stick to it. Think of a book you want to read, a genre of music you'd like to learn more about, a curiosity to chase no matter how trivial. Keep your spark lit.

The best game I played this year which didn't come out this year was Tametsi, which is currently on sale for 82p.

If you buy this, definitely turn on the option which makes the numbers count down when you flag tiles.
