Hey! You! Do you like... learning things? Do you like... laughing?? Do you like... being that annoying person in the conversation who gets to say "um ACTUALLY Einstein wasn't even that smart he couldn't even swim and he KEPT falling in the ocean and making people save him"?

Then you'll LOVE my book

They're desperate to rationalize "heritage American" as if it's some serious intellectual theory and not a white nationalist twitter meme. Which doesn't work because it is, in fact, just a white nationalist twitter meme.

This is unfortunately standard behaviour when authority exceeds its bounds and its agents are given permission to behave as horrifically as they want. It’s also a sign that anyone in Palestine solidarity is also an unperson with no rights, like the Palestinians themselves are.

'You cant think trans folk are fully human and deserve human rights and still say you are reporting on law' is an absolutely bonkers position to entertain in the privacy of your own mind, let alone declaring it in a public forum.

It is, in fact, possible to be a good reporter whilst also having a moral backbone, and the assumption that it isn't is what got us *gestures vaguely* all of this
But you think it’s possible to do “straight reporting” on legal issues while also being “100%” on somebody’s side. That’s not serious. That’s simply result-oriented. Be “I want the legal result that I think is best for this group.” But don’t then pretend to be reporting on law.

How are these fits of presidential incontinence never covered as their own news events in NYT? Hours of sick hateful bile from the curdled joyless leader of the Christian nationalists sitting in the ruins of the tinsel trimmed White House he’s demolishing — seems like a story to me.

The frustrating thing about this bullshit is people like Will talk endlessly about how “sure America did bad stuff, but that’s not who we are anymore” and they’ll provide no evidence of that change but worse they won’t even acknowledge or learn about the “bad stuff” they’re saying America did.

the black panther party was such an idiotic and pathetic attempt at excelling black civil rights. That’s why federal and state governments assassinated every single major leader of the group.

They’re not rural, they’re monied. The people who have pink tarmac in their villages and get their hedges cut by Norfolk CC. While an urban area in Norwich, Yarmouth of Lynn which would benefit from a youth club and bit of love gets nothing. They won’t vote Labour or Green anyway. Fuck ‘em.

Anybody else remember when somebody photoshopped a My Little Pony character into a picture of Auschwitz and a Brony earnestly posted "Seeing her like that, imagining her suffering, it's put things into perspective for me. I get why the Holocaust was bad now"

A great example of how the @nytimes.com centers white Americans and Trump supporters in its anecdotal political coverage. You never see stories like this about Black Democrats whose cities are cracked in Republican gerrymandering to give them Republican elected officials.
They Wanted a Conservative State. They Might Get a Democratic Representative Instead.

The passage of Proposition 50, which redrew California’s congressional map, means that all of the state’s conservative north is likely to be represented by Democrats.

Annie, maybe white men just don't write books worthy of the best of the year lists.

Opinion | You can’t be diverse if you exclude white men
Those year-end book lists that claim to be all about diversity often seem to miss this one major demographic, Annie Holmquist writes.
