The insistence that only Democrats have agency which is a mainstay of US political punditry/conventional wisdom eventually has the consequence of convincing actors to behave like it's true.
COOK POLITICAL: Republicans “may have had a blind spot: the extent to which Democrats could push .. in blue states to fight back.” 🤡

THIS
The significant aspect is not some Trump-whispering power but how this is very deflating for the whole moral panic whipped up around Mamdani in conservative and centrist circles

People on here want their top issues taken permanently off the table by democrats so then they don’t feel guilty not voting for democrats in the future.

The democrats are the party of more government so whatever it does or does not do is their fault.
there are a lot of poeple who believe the dems are in charge even when they're not in charge
Every day it becomes harder for my trans friends to get the care they need explicitly because Dems did jack shit while in office and now Republicans are free to push all the anti-trans laws they want, so don't fucking tell me that "democrats have done a lot actually," because they've done *nothing.*

Tom Nichols and Will Stancil are the clearest examples of how standing up to the crowd on social media drives certain personalities insane.
They seem to think that if they can bully you into saying “now: fascism”, that there is an exact set of following actions you will be expected to perform. As if being the person to get Tom Nichols to say “fascism” is an honor they deserve.

Nothing like this exists on the left and I can’t see Dems setting up a house organ soon.
The power of Fox News isn’t that they push conservative ideas, it’s that they are willing to set any kind of ideological consideration aside at the drop of a hat to boost Republicans regardless of what they do at any given moment.

I've said this before, but one of the more striking things about the current generation of righties is that they really show no sign of understanding that there's a world *beyond* their screens, beyond owning & being owned on social media. A real world, with real people & real problems.
Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

ESPN straight up called out Bill for calling pointless timeouts at the end of the Clemson/UNC game. Banished them to the app to make room for Texas/Florida.

On the one hand, republicans are killing Venezuelans without cause; on the other hand democrats said voters should vote for them. Who’s to say which is worse.

This is a chart of the US teen birth rate, and we’re now at the point where this circled cohort is our current 17-20 year olds (and look at what’s coming). Curious about what this entails in all kinds of ways (education, crime rate, risky behaviors, etc).
