Tom, I think a lot of these people just are looking to an authority figure and see that in you. They’ve always had a parent or a teacher or hr to go to and fix things. They don’t get that even if you start screaming fascism, that means Trump has to stop.

They seem to think that if they can bully you into saying “now: fascism”, that there is an exact set of following actions you will be expected to perform. As if being the person to get Tom Nichols to say “fascism” is an honor they deserve.

I think the cast is what makes a bad story seem brilliant. They all give if not great, at least all memorable performances.

The movie presumes Damon’s character will find meaning in leaving his old life behind. It’s a form of striver privilege that front row students assume happiness and credentials come hand in hand.
