We must speak plainly about the agenda Elon Musk & other MAGA leaders are pushing. It’s white nationalism.

There’s no room for Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native, Jewish or all other Americans in Musk’s monocultural vision.

Multiculturalism is superior. We can’t allow Musk & others to end it.

My English-Scots-Irish ancestors didn't die for multiculturalism; they killed for it. Killed Confederates who said shit exactly like this.

No, the point is absolutely true of Chavismo and the like as well. Populism is everywhere and always about pinning blame on an out-group. There is no such thing as universalist inclusive populism, the whole thing is there's the One True Real People versus the illegitimate others. Pick your poison.

That's what distinguishes a Lula or Sheinbaum from a Chavez. It's not just being to the left, even the hard left. Populism as such is fundamentally anti-democratic and anti-pluralism. It's about delegitimization of opposition, not just throwing hard punches in the game of democratic politics.

It's galling to contemplate but I really think you have to admit that Musk buying X was an unqualified victory. It can't be exaggerated just how much prominent journalists, pundits, business type, etc. mistake the vibe on X for "how the country is feeling."

You can't do any type of American focused social science well without grappling with how the interactions between African Americans and the state shaped both the institutions as well as how groups interact with them. The fight over"African Americans' place in society" is 400 years old and counting.

Swear to god, so many of these uber rich guys who keep trying to intellectualize and sanitize white supremacy really are the dumbest motherfuckers alive. They constantly say word salad-y nonsense like this that would cause them to fail a fourth grade US history test.
This odious white supremacist needs to learn some history.

Not so long ago, it was common to see "Irish need not apply" in job listings in the United States. You know, the same type of pernicious prejudice that Elon exhibits regularly.

In 2013, Platner wrote "Why don’t black people tip?" and wrote in a thread about sexual assault that people should "take some responsibility for themselves and not get so f—-ked up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to?"

I also am baffled that people are assuming this super checkered barely known guy will be super progressive as though we're not living in a post Fetterman universe.
It's nuts that these are the two candidates the respective wings of the Maine Dems have coughed up. I am positive there are, somewhere in the state, a moderate who's not 97 years old and a progressive who doesn't have nazi tattoos.

Yeah, the Nazi tattoo is part of the appeal for Platner for a lot of people. His candidacy is supposed to signal the left no longer concerns itself with “woke” issues like public displays of bigotry.
Just gonna say there are plenty of insurgent, anti-establishment candidates WITHOUT Nazi tattoos that the New Republic could have featured instead of Platner.

You could ABSOLUTELY make the point that Ds are mad at the centrist leaders of the party WITHOUT helping rehabilitate this particular guy.

The 2028 Dem platform needs to include "prosecute everyone who lied to Congress."

Whatever fake "norms" there were against that are long gone, and Trump has routinely used and threatened it, including against the Federal Reserve. Real, meritorious prosecutions need to happen at scale.
The acting director of ICE told Congress, under oath, that local law enforcement in Colorado leaked raid plans, allowing gang members to escape.

After 9NEWS questioned ICE's claim and its timeline, ICE deleted the claim from its social media platforms.

Per John's thread below, I hope Democratic primary voters in North Carolina are paying attention to this issue amidst their State Legislative primaries.

There are some elected State Leg Dems who keep joining Republicans to override Gov. Stein's vetoes.
in The NC primaries that are on March 3 the primaries do matter. there are democrats in very blue districts who vote to override Stein's vetos and give the republicans an effective super majority in the state house.
