The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

If you’re media covering bike-lanes, watch this news story.

If you’re a downtown business association discussing bike-lanes, watch this news story.

If you’re anyone hearing the LIE that bike-lanes are bad for business, watch this story.

And please SHARE THIS STORY so others can watch it too.
WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Annex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanes
Stores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes ...

My unpopular opinion: those of us advocating for non-car travel need to stop apologetically saying "I know not everybody can cycle!" Obviously not everyone can cycle, but that's also true of driving. I fear we're just giving our opponents' attack lines legitimacy by shouting them out for free

Lol they're feeling threatened
Car brand BYD's new SUV ad pokes fun at people walking and cycling, comparing them to Horse & Carts.

It joins a long list of car ads that sell a false promise of convenience and aspiration while punching down at sustainable transport modes.

So I made it a bit more realistic...

People who say “AI art will get better!” just mean that in the sense that the PS5 is “better” than the PS1: ie. its graphical fidelity will increase.

This is an impoverished view of art. AI “art” it’s flawed from first principles. It only produces slop because it is a blender for human thought.
Removing the artist from art is to render it into something else entirely, something less than it could have been.

I genuinely believe the way to fight generative AI is a Renaissance of the weird, personal and specific.

We love art BECAUSE it connects us to a real person’s interior life.

Requiring cyclists to come to a full stop at stop signs just slows drivers down. I know because I, the canonical rule follower, come to a full stop, and then I have to slowly accelerate when it's my turn. Same with making cyclists dismount to cross the crosswalk - much slower than riding across.
