I’m honestly shocked that this story from @globalnews.ca has flown under the radar. Confirmation that Amit Shah, the second-most powerful man in the Indian government, was directly involved in the assassinations on Canadian soil. globalnews.ca/news/1151469...

Canada has lost its measles elimination status today. Undoubtedly, part of this is because of misinformation.

But it does not explain the whole story here, and simply attributing this public heath failure to misinformation absolves those in power of their contributing role.

General bookings for COVID-19 vaccines opened — in theory — three weeks ago in Alberta.

I still haven't been able to book any for my children.

Just tried again this morning and got hung up on again by Alberta's 811 HealthLink, with an automated message blaming "higher than expected call volume."
The only way to book COVID vaccines for young children in Alberta is by calling 811 / HealthLink.

Bookings opened Monday.

It’s now Friday and the system is still saying call volumes are too high and auto-hanging-up on callers. 🙃

(They also cost $100 a pop, if you can ever get through.)

Extremely well put criticism of the latest publicity play by the CPS. There are so many better ways to improve things… criminalizing poverty is not one and pushes the problem into surrounding inner city communities away from what little supports exist

Salute to my pal, Agnès. As we have in recent years, we rode together to mark the finale of her season, and in a way that only Agnès can, she took me on a route with vicious climbs and killed my legs, but she’s all smiles so 🫡

Monday evening Brompton ride🤔, why not?

Meet @ 6:30 pm, south side of George C. King Bridge in East Village.

Our route will see us over a mix of bike infrastructure & quieter residential roads.

Brompton League rides draw folding bike enthusiasts, but all types of bikes and their owners welcome.

Yes, a cargo bike is big, but it's designed to be a "guest" in the urban space, fitting neatly on a sidewalk. Cars and trucks demand that the entire space be re-engineered just for them.

Recorded in September, this interview with @yipengge.bsky.social engages Israel’s illegal siege, occupation, and genocide in Gaza through a medical doctor and activist lens primarily. Discussion also engages settler colonialism and imperialism as foundational to understanding the path to genocide.
On the latest episode, Dr. @yipengge.bsky.social joins host @caradrianh.bsky.social to discuss the genocide in #Gaza and Canada’s complicity.

"The threshold is very high to attack a hospital. What Israel has done is essentially attack all the hospitals in Gaza."

Yet another pedestrian death on Calgary's streets. This article doesn't include the context that last month, three pedestrians were killed in 24 hours and #yyc surpassed last year’s 10-year high for fatal traffic collisions. We need to talk about this more. #yyccc

This sucks in all ways possible other than its a perfect example for my policy class about unintended barriers/how things get made illegal without the intention to make them illegal (pretty clear, right or wrong, the goal was keeping kids from operating ebikes, or unsafely riding on a scooter)
We have unfortunate news about passengers under 16 on e-bikes and e-cargo bikes in Ontario. It appears, they are not allowed. Read our blog for a deep dive on the law and what you can do in response:
