“you can be disappeared”

this is actually happening to people irl in this country, getting a temporary suspension from Bluesky is not the same thing. grow up
BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so – over Johnny Cash lyrics.

Thinking today how homelessness runs through this story, through Epstein's (Virginia Guiffre had been homeless before meeting him), and even through Gaiman's (his nanny was sleeping on the beach when Palmer recruited her, and he used threats of homelessness against another victim).
The woman whom the House Ethics Committee determined Matt Gaetz paid for sex when she was 17 years old was living in a homeless shelter, working at McDonald's, and needed the money for braces www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

This is both A) incredibly suspicious, and B) within what I would accept as normal levels of government incompetence.

So, you know, we'll see how the judge takes it.
An interesting tidbit in the joint status report filed in the Broadview ICE facility case today:

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.

Bringing the Bench Behind Bars: Plan Would Require Yearly Prison Visits by Judges

Similar to people demanding troops patrol Ward 8, Detroit is not an actual place for a lot of people. It’s a stand-in for “urban blight” and “Black crime” so they’re very cavalier about suggesting a little more racism be directed there as a valve to their political problems.

"Police baked their own contempt into the data, listing people’s occupations as 'SCUM BAG,' 'TURD,' or simply 'BLACK.'"

Great FOIA work from @sreynolds.bsky.social and reporting from @dell.bsky.social

Worth noting this DHS-CPD partnership happened under Biden; no admin has had good DHS oversight.
NEW: DHS secretly obtained Chicago police data on 900 residents accused of gang ties. It was quietly deleted after intelligence officers violated rules against domestic spying.

The handoff came well after city inspectors formally announced CPD's gang data was deeply flawed and infected w/ bias.
DHS Kept Chicago Police Records for Months in Violation of Domestic Espionage Rules
The Department of Homeland Security collected data on Chicago residents accused of gang ties to test if police files could feed an FBI watchlist. Months passed before anyone noticed it wasn’t deleted.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

As everyone has pointed out, the guy is covered in racist-curious tattoos.

But also, this is a lame, transparent attempt to deflect from the fact that his no beards policy is clearly aimed at and will disproportionately affect black men.

"Hey look at all the silly white people we're pissing off!"
Hegseth: "We don't need to be a military of beardos anymore. Do you know how many troops claim to be Nordic Pagan? No, suddenly it's become this real fake religious affiliation inside the Pentagon where troops came to be Nordic Pagan so they can grow a beard and nobody challenges them on it."

I doubt he’d come, of course, but he’s still a U.S. citizen, and registered to vote in Illinois (albeit in a county *next to* the one where the Broadview facility resides). religionnews.com/2025/05/09/c...

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

For those who don’t remember, USIP was a *non-governmental* agency that DOGE sought to dismantle during the fascist raids to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse. Accountability is mandatory.
Former US Institute of Peace security chief testifies: “I observed members of the [DC] MPD giving each other high-fives and fist bumps as I was escorted from the USIP headquarters building.”

It’s part of a sworn declaration submitted as part of my lawsuit to release body cam footage of the raid.

One small bright spot: valley fever isn’t contagious. But that bright spot is immediately offset by HOW I know that, which is that my sister lived in AZ for a month or two, managed to get valley fever in that time, and I had some questions when she got to NY still coughing.
So thrilled to share the launch of this new project, Vital Signs, with climate desk readers. @who.int says climate change threatens to erode 50 years of public health gains. What does that look like? We’ll be reporting from five continents.
