#BREAKING U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis in Chicago is entering a preliminary injunction governing the use of force against protesters and journalists.
Ellis, apparently wrapping up, is quoting George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and others.

if constitutional rights only apply to individuals or states that have sued for relief, you don't actually have constitutional _rights_, you have _privileges_ that can sometimes (but not always) be secured for you by your lawyer
The upshot of this decision, for now, seems to be exactly the crazy patchwork scenario we were warned about:

- the lower-court injunctions continue to protect the parties (immigrant orgs, individuals and 22 states) from Trump's EO
- the EO can (and will) be enforced in the other 28 states

This is the same camp that Ras J Baraka was arrested at and LaMonica McIver caught a FEDERAL charge for investigating

because they did not believe the conditions were humane

So the two Black legislators who actually did something ENTIRELY correct

There's a whole tier of Democratic politicians who think the way to solve fascism is to say stuff you would have said eight years ago, but with a curse word in it.
The path back to power for the Democratic Party is to be the party that gets shit done.

By 5-4 vote, #SCOTUS *denies* Trump’s emergency application in foreign aid funding cases, but in a way that sends things back to the district court *before* the payments will have to be made:

It's been observed by many, many people that conservatives desperately want to be a protected class, and they do, but I think they also really, truly, honestly believe in their right to rule and do not really understand why you do not.
The conservative victimhood on display never ceases to amaze. You set up a system where all controversial cases can be filed in Amarillo so one far-right judge can file nationwide injunctions, and it’s *the critics* of that practice who are attacking legitimacy.

Sinead O'Connor was ahead of her time. In 1992, she killed her career by ripping the Pope's pic live on SNL, to protest systemic child abuse w/in the Catholic church. The backlash was swift, vicious, misogynist.

10yrs later, @bostonglobe.bsky.social expose proved her right.

Rest in power, Sinead.

Also, while rap music can glorify violence, much of it was also an effort to call attention to and politicize the policies that led to that violence.

Aldean’s music is just denying that violence impacts rural places too. It’s pure denialism. Literally the opposite of what rap’s focus.
It’s so funny to still be doing this in an era where the most popular rap is about how another member of your polycule is bogarting the Xanax
