when anti-communist repression kicks up again (as it is already starting to), the DotB won't discriminate between social democrats, left-liberals, and the evil tankies you abhor. may as well stop trying to sell yourself as "a good one" ns get with the programme.

Little problem there champ, in that in Australia and Canada the "centre left" candidates ran on explicitly anti Trump platforms.

Obviously the best thing for the people of Venezuela is for UK politicians to bloviate about how great we are and then decide for them.
Of course Maduro's repressive regime must be held accountable - but the US's unilateral attack on Venezuela is not about democracy. It is about oil imperialism.

The UK must stop pandering to Donald Trump and roundly condemn the illegal action taken by the US.

Of course you'd go with the dreadful liberal framing.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is another police informant btw. That'll be the second time we know of that they put someone with Luigi Mangione in the same cell trying to get damning information out of him lmao

Agree with Naadir, think this is inevitable and I hope it will catalyze movements to curb the US's power (hopefully to balkanize it, it's just too big and powerful internationally).
I'm upping my confidence in my prediction from 2024 that the US will leave the United Nations and the UN itself will need to leave Turtle Bay.

I originally based this on the bipartisan law that demands the US leave any UN system org that recognises Palestine. Now combine with Christofascism.

Had Democrats committed themselves to reducing the political power of law enforcement (and not funding them), we might not be here. Instead, both parties built up the law enforcement baronial class, an unaccountable law enforcement force that does what it wants, when it wants, how it wants.

Remember, it’s extremely important that we stay in NATO, otherwise a larger bully country could invade and occupy our lands.
The defeatists masking as realists are already calling for Europe to just abandon Greenland to the US.

It’s worth noting that Brazil just straight up banned Twitter, and Musk then gave it everything it asked for.

Mark Carney is a little bitch.

"Elbows Up" LMFAO.
Mark Carney is a coward for refusing to call out the Trump administration over its violation of international law in Venezuela and its escalating threats against Greenland.

He will slam Russia for invading a country, but justify the United States doing the same.

I think I got the principle right but I could not have predicted that even a massive, automated non-consensual abuse machine that includes children in its targets wouldn't be enough to encourage any large-scale switching for the undeniably still large-ish number of people volunteering for X
I think it's become pretty clear now that there is very literally no level of racist bigotry that white progressives will consider to be too much to stop contributing free content for Elon Musk's advertising budgets.

So the question is: what now? There won't ever be another big 'surge' from X
Nearly every progressive politician, journalist and organization in America continues to use the website this man controls as a primary means of communication.

How on earth are people supposed to live and work like this? Climate collapse, Emperor Caligula in the Whitehouse, a Vichy government in the UK.

Couldn't sleep last night because of doom thoughts. Can't concentrate at work today.

Hard to emphasise enough that this is worse than no deal at all.

This is just preferential terms for US corporations.
The world capitulates.

150 countries agree plan to stop global companies shifting profits to low-tax jurisdictions, but US companies will be exempt from 15% global minimum tax.

They make profit we fund the cost.

The race to the bottom will accelerate.

BBC Verify tells us that Venezuela exerting further state control over its own oil industry in 2007 was controversial.

Controversial to who? The World Bank, apparently. Alas BBC Verify doesn't explain the role of the World Bank or its history.

"We're going to tax corporations properly. Except US ones are exempt."

So, pointless then?
OECD countries, including EU countries & the UK, just forfeited to Trump their sovereign right to tax businesses operating within their own borders. This is an alarming subjugation of state sovereignty – and yet it is being spun as a landmark tax deal.

At this stage it doesn't even matter that much whether it's Palantir or a less obviously neo-Nazi aligned outfit. It's simply an issue of sovereignty. Our infrastructure is being sold, wholesale, to foreign governments, and it is a national security issue.
