Gotta admit, a big part of my socialist leanings are just me going "your systems are inefficient and you should feel bad"

Like, a significant amount of the time it's both cheaper and easier to give people a big pile of cash than making them 'prove' they need it

(The year is 2077. A child and an elderly millennial are huddled around a fire, sharing a single bean from a rusty tin can.)
Child: Why did things get so bad, papa?
Papa: Well, my child, we had to warm the planet to tell the rich man that he would probably be very good at drinking urine.

Cis men-the best thing you can do to dismantle the patriarchy is to support marginalized men and masculinity. In addition to supporting women/femininity. It is vitally important to do these things in tangent. THAT is what breaks the patriarchy.

I'm having a hot chocolate round my in-laws'. They're like "it's very strong" and "would you like sugar with it"

It's 40%

My usual hot chocolate is 70%

On International Men's Day I'll say this: there are a lot of problems that affect men that are reinforced by rigid gender stereotypes and a capitalist hellscape and their inability to properly express and share emotions are exploited by scumbags like Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson

⭕️ Forced displacement remains staggering: half of all Palestinians in Gaza have been uprooted at least four times since October 7.

▪️31% have moved shelters 2–3 times,
▪️36% have moved 4–6 times,
▪️13% have moved 7–10 times,
▪️and only 7% say they moved just once.

The person who wrote the novelization of Bram Stoker's Dracula offered to do the novelization of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein directed by Kenneth Branagh.

He wanted the cover to say "By the author of Brom Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein"

people bitch about woke media but if TOS was on today they would go to a thinly-veiled MAGA planet where the locals worshipped guns and then kirk would hit the orange dictator with a two-fisted karate chop before giving a lecture about how science is real and violence is bad

today at the dog park neighboring the public tennis courts I witnessed a dude putting a battery operated ball launcher inside his suv accidentally hit some sort of button on it, which caused the machine to start firing tennis balls inside of the vehicle, which ended up giving him a black eye
had an awful day. please reply with your favorite memory someone that totally ate shit in a physical way that isn’t a total bummer

Of course.

Moment I knew she existed, I was out there faster than Jay Hulme when he spots a rickety ladder in a church.

Here she is:

Good thread here and wanting to build on it:

There's a kind of parent who does not see their child as a person, but as an investment they have made for their future; as property.

And our society currently enables these parents in all sorts of ways, because family is a useful tool to the state.
There's a tendency in trans people's parents, when they are accepting, to still want an exaggerate amount of control on their kid's life. I'm not talking about the regular amount of oversight any young person requires, in fact most of the cases I am thinking about right now concern people over 20.

Some of the stray dogs living near Chernobyl have recently turned blue. This confused scientists for weeks, until they realized they had simply been rolling around in chemicals from a nearby set of portable toilets. 14/10 for all

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

if you ever wondered what "emotional labour" meant in its original sense, it's this. (the workers it was first used to describe were flight attendants).
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.
