Y'all still won't let "sanewashing" go? Y'all still comparing the most powerful man in the world to some of its most vulnerable, the mentally ill? Fuck y'all.

The album I most remember was The Chipmunks 35th Birthday Party. I listened to it a lot as a kid. It had a lot of eighties songs. That probably explains my musical tastes.
Name a record you had on cassette tape

Let that sink in.

This is the exact way they talk about colonizing in the past too. "Winner takes all" is how they justify genocide of Native Americans, enslavement, and patriarchy. "I'm more powerful, so it's mine. If you can't defend yourself, you deserve to be conquered and die."
Trump isn't merely stupid.

He sincerely believes if he has the power to take something from you by force, and you have it, then you are wrong to have it, and he is right to take it.

Every aspect of his life, every decision, every idolized dictator proves this is his rule.

Not stupid. Evil.

The names of Canada's provinces and territories come from many sources.
Some names come from Indigenous words, while others are named for royalty, and some are named for where settlers came from.
This is how each province and territory was named!

On Dec. 31, 1857, Queen Victoria made a decision that had a lasting impact on our history.
She decided that Ottawa was to be the new capital of the Province of Canada.
How did this small community, best-known as a lumber town, become the capital?
This is the story.

Anderson Abbott was not only the first Canadian-born Black person to graduate from medical school.
He served in the Union Army during the Civil War, fought segregation and was one of the first Black persons to attend a reception at the White House.
This is his story.

The biggest lie we tell ourselves is that if we could be amongst the 1% billionaire class, we would not be like them and would handle our wealth and power differently.

This belief stops us from questioning the system that allows people to accumulate so much wealth and power in the first place. /1

As Canadians - especially in Conservative governed Ontario and Alberta - face a push to privatize public services and institutions, a little reminder from @politicsintheuk.bsky.social

Thatcher used oil revenues to lower taxes for corporations and the wealthy.

Norway invested theirs.

Which is weird, because my religion is about:
1. The first shall be last, the meek inherit, the mighty are brought low
2. Every tribe, tongue, and nation
3. The hungry are filed with good things and the rich are turned away empty
4. Upside-down Kingdom of humility
5. Embrace of Truth and grace
Research shows “Christian nation” language signals:

1. 👑 Desire for traditional social hierarchies
2. 🚧 Commitment to strong ethno-racial boundaries
3. 💰 Idealizing free-market capitalism
4. 🔒 Preference for authoritarian social control
5. 🌀 Embrace of populism, victimhood & conspiracies
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

I think Bob is looking at how people treat bad professional art and assuming amateurs are treated the same.
There's such a weird series of nested conflations going on here.

Like, it seems that Alice wants to use AI to do art... so that she can post it on the internet for clout and praise, and Bob's advice is bad because beginners don't get praise and clout, but get nasty comments for being beginners?

I realise that Benoit Blanc was created for film, and he works perfectly in that context. But he reads so like a character adapted from a Golden Age detective novel that every film makes me feel sad there isn't a series of Benoit Blanc novels for us to read as well.
