When sending mutual aid, I hate that it costs $20 Canadian to send $10 US.
I help out where I can (mostly to people I know/trust), but the exchange rate sucks and the fees PayPal and other platforms charge is extortionate.

The woman who called churches to get formula and the discussion around it shows a deep misunderstanding of how church funds work. Should the church help the community? Obviously. Do most churches have funds and staff at the ready to get formula quickly? They don’t, actually.

#Autistic people tend to be earnest & honest, & to have strong integrity: we hold ourselves to our values. Many of us are deeply upset by anything that seems unjust. We aren’t all angels, but I do think most of us are genuinely trying to be decent, & that is a virtue of our neurotype.

It was liberation theology priests in Latin America that let me let go of my anger at Christianity after my apostasy - that let me see that there were people who followed the example of the Christ I still respected, even if I did not call him God.

My MIL did this to me when she asked why people didn't like Mike Pence and I said he paid people to abuse children (which he did).
"That's so evil I don't believe you're telling me the truth" is such a specific problem with our electorate.
Recently my brother in law explained what gerrymandering was to a coworker and they didn’t believe him because if that were really happening there would be riots in the street

This week I had someone tell me they're not worried about SNAP being cut off because "that's illegal, so it's impossible Trump could do that, so obviously it's just media sensationalism." Another person told me they weren't worried about ICE because "they can't detain you if you're legally here."

In all seriousness the casual use of “mentally ill” to mean “bad and destructive” is so lazy. “Mental illness” is a broad spectrum that includes people who are successfully managing their condition and those who are letting it run rampant. And even at our worst, we are all different!
