gAI art is bad because it's stealing labor.

stealing labor from art is easy because no one sees art as labor, they see it as talent.

they see it as talent because it's easier to believe they have a right to hate you because they can't stand they gave up and you didn't.

fuck them, pay labor.

Again, stunts are good. They are part of politics. They shape public opinion & the National Conversation™️

Bringing impeachment articles when you don't control either chamber of Congress & know you'll lose is a stunt. The point is not to win. It's to make the other side <react> & set The Narrative™️
The point isn't that it will work. Everyone knows it won't.

Presidentialism was a grave mistake (bsky.app/profile/mcop...) for this very reason & we should scrap it.

The point is for Democrats to signal to voters they understand the stakes & are doing everything they can to fight the fascism.
Kind of a reality check for the "impeach Noem" posters. Of course in an ideal world she'd be impeached, but the worst person you know made a good point when he said: "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time..."

As an american I am calling on the rest of the world, for the good of the world, to fuck us up
I mean at a certain point it's probably time for the rest of the world to consider a series of targeted sanctions, tariffs, visa restrictions, etc. in order to attempt to rein in what is increasingly a lawless and completely bonkers foreign policy.
Trump on Greenland: "Denmark is very far away. A boat landed there 200 years ago or something and they say they have rights to it. I don't know if that's true. I don't think it is, actually ... we really need it for national security ... maybe you'll see more and more soldiers go there."

Farmers are going to run to Congress for another handout to deal with the retaliatory tariffs and the answer from Dems has to be "no."

This isn't out of retribution, it's because we can't keep creating escape hatches for GOP members of Congress. For the benefit of all, keep the pressure on them.

If the legitimate press just permanently stopped attending these events and were replaced by propaganda outlets, that would be both optically clarifying and improve actual journalism.
Consider the possibility that the Trump White House WANTS this fight. Wants journalists to act like opponents instead of observers. If the entire press pool skipped a Trump photo op in solidarity with The AP, wouldn't the White House welcome Breitbart and One America News to take their places?
And, are you or your colleagues boycotting covering the WH as a protest?

Think about why Joe Biden and other past presidents couldn't have simply done whatever they wanted, regardless of laws and the Constitution. It wasn't because they were all good guys, deeply respectful of institutions. It's because EVERYONE WOULD HAVE FREAKED OUT.

Republicans are obviously morally bankrupt but I always thought it was an extreme miscalculation by Democrats to try to position Trump as alone or as an aberration as opposed to indicting the whole party. 147 Republican members of Congress voted to overturn an election and faced no consequences!!!
Historically, members of Congress have jealously guarded their own power and prerogatives, standing the line even against presidents of their own party.

But this Republican Congress just bent the knee immediately, without even a word of protest.

Democrats in Congress need to repeat this mantra: There are no “cheap shots” nor such a thing as “politicizing a tragedy” when it could be connected to Trump’s efforts to dismantle the govts.

by freezing all federal grants, trump is fundamentally transforming the relationship between the executive and congress. he is asserting dictatorial authority over federal spending, transforming congress's lawmaking powers into advisory authority. it is a constitutional crisis

Tbh, if I were a big Democratic donor, I'd cancel for now all my contributions to the DNC, DSSC, DCCC, and affiliated organizations. I'd explain that I'm targeting my resources to groups trying to do something meaningful to oppose Trump's authoritarian takeover.

Democrats, if you don’t want to fight Trump, resign. The country needs exactly one thing from you right now and if you can’t provide it, get out of the way and allow yourself to be replaced by someone who can.

chicken and egg question here, are people on their phones because they're addicted, or are they on their phones because the show is boring?

This right here is very much the problem. We're in "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes" grinder.

And it's not really like we can just tell the truth *faster* because truth needs to be based on facts that are not always immediately available.
Just wrapped up an interview w a House Dem about Laken Riley Act (he's against it) and the party is still unsure of how to handle this info environment. While you're approving a press release Elon has convinced 100 million people that you personally started the fire to enact Agenda 21.
I think it also should be mentioned that the person who really got this going was Rick Caruso, the West Coast Trump/developer who Bass kicked the ass of in the election, and who falsely spread conspiracy theories about fire hydrants in the same radio interview.

Senator, I really hope you and your colleagues understand how much of the despondency stems from watching congressional Democrats.
Be furious be angry but despondency is what they want from us. And be very suspicious of people on the left who say “we are cooked” or whatever. Imagine the civil rights movement, or suffrage, or any movement for change, hitting a roadblock and just “saying well we are well and truly fucked now.”

The week after January 6th I wrote a thing about how the people involved in these things don’t go away unless you make them go away using the full power and authority of the state. Otherwise, they’ll keep popping up over and over for decades.
There's a reason democracies don't let people who tried coups back into power.

Like everybody else, I'm disgusted and rage-filled and sick and tired and afraid for everyone. I don't know what to do, it feels endless and exhausting. But at some point it will be time to go into "we're not trapped in here with them, they're trapped in here with us" mode.
