I suppose it's great if you're doing a big trip somewhere and want extra time to travel, but nobody I know is doing that and instead we are all slogging grimly through this thing

Kids' school does teacher professional development day on the Monday after Thanksgiving, so they're home another day. Kids are wilding out, everyone's moody and fighting, weather's garbage outside. School would be amazing right about now.

My kids were around 5 when they started creeping into the living room to watch with us! Now they all have strong opinions on their fave bakers, the best bakes, etc. Really adds so much to our viewing experience.

Each kid separately watching a different braindead influencer on YouTube for hours is the definition of bad screen time, but the family gathering to watch Bakeoff together is entirely wholesome and a cherished part of our week

Watched it for the first time as an adult. Don't remember laughing at all, but I did mutter "uh-oh" and "yikes" many times.

I always wonder how these people spend their time. What do they do all day. What websites do they know? What shows do they watch? (I assume they do not read, but maybe they do!! I have no idea!) Draw me up a schedule so I can try it for 24 hours, I just want to see what it's like.

They gonna watch Price Is Right, microwave their own Spagetti-os for lunch, and then you won't see them until 9 p.m.?

Letting it stack up everywhere in messy piles, of course. The dining room table is no longer for eating, only storing art projects and half-finished workbooks

Dealing with car seats makes everything such a logistical headache. Again: Not something I ever thought about until I had kids.

YES. I know from personal experience -- until you have to haul babies/little kids around every single day, you don't think about this stuff. It's absolutely grueling out there; I almost always just drive, even tho I hate cars. We need mind-boggling amounts of investment in non-car infrastructure.

Pretty sure I watched Rowling lose her mind in real time, yes. She used to be fairly normal!

My little girl was scared to go to the playground for awhile b/c of all the unleashed dogs and yeah I got pretty mad about that. "He's friendly, it's ok!" is meaningless when you're a tiny child and an animal bigger than you is coming at you full speed

90 percent of our discretionary expenses as a household are us trying desperately to buy some peace and quiet

Thank you, Sen. Booker!

My family is watching Powerpuff girls, both the original (late 90s/early 2000s) and reboot from 2016-2018. The reboot's animation is clean and crisp and there are still decent visual gags but it just *looks* far less interesting, and I can't articulate why.

...and we wonder why so many voters don't understand the stakes of what's happening. Stop acting like these people are reasonable! you really *don't* gotta hand it to 'em!

Why are aren't you demanding resignations, at the very least?
March 25, 2025 at 11:10 AM
You should resign

Many very understanding nurses and docs out there, but I've definitely gotten at least one "not my problem, also you're a bad person for asking" look from a nurse. Oh also one blissfully unaware, cheerful "yep, just wait it out! good luck!" from a ped nurse. I wanted to weep.

Some med staff just assume your kids are home 24/7 anyway. Took me 3 days to get strep results back once, they were surprised I'd sent him back to school. GI problems? "That can take 5-7 days to resolve, just wait it out," like ma'am, plz understand that is not practical advice. Work with me, here
