For the record, shaming people for being able to eat/keep food down during traumatic events is a really shitty thing to do.

Humans deserve to eat, period.

And: people who are properly nourished have more energy for activism.

And: some of us are in precarious recovery from eating disorders.

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

Seeing every rich anti-trans eugenicist - Rowling, Chomsky, Trivers, Christakis, Rowan, etc - appear in the Epstein files really lays bare how nothing is unconnected. These people have class solidarity, yes, but they see a world purged of unhumans (with the rest subjugated) as their overarching goal

It’s SO much fucking worse. But talking about just makes people go, lol no you’re exaggerating.

Fuck, I wish I was. 😤
Not a judgment and IDK how you overcome it but...it's striking that every time a fresh national news story drops about ICE in the Twin Cities (ProPublica today), a lot of people respond with "Wow, I didn't realize it was that bad" and everyone in MN goes "Yes and it's a hundred times worse"

ICE has booked at least 3,800 children +

(Drawing by a 5-year-old detained in Texas with her mother. “I am 5 years old” is written at the top. Lower down, next to stick figures, are the words “let us go.” You don't have to know your Bible to hear myriad echoes here, but phew, those too.)

People say we can't compare this to the Third Reich because of the atrocities but we only found out about the atrocities after the fact when it was all said and done and we're not done with this yet so I am sure the worst stomach churning shit has yet to be revealed.
ICYMI: The US is currently holding three times as many people in immigrant detention as were detained in the Nazi concentration camp system in spring 1939 — six years into the Third Reich, and just before the start of World War II.

The unspoken rules for protest in the US have been, for decades, that if you have a big tame sign-holding march, it's safe to bring your kids.

If you're not perceived as threatening their power, they'll leave you alone.

Which means they perceive their unpopularity as a threat to their power

Don’t forget the kids who weren’t lucky enough to have a cute photo go viral to get people outraged on their behalf. They ALL must be released.
Liam, 5, has been freed, but four other students from his school district remain detained in Texas. Two boys from his elementary school were taken Thurs

“This isn’t something we are prepared or trained for. We’ve dedicated our lives to protecting + educating children,” school superintendent told me

You’re describing an emergency. The world is also watching you and waiting for you to do something.

Are you going to establish an eviction moratorium? Rent is due today.
They’re taking kids from Minnesota and sending them to detention camps. They’re shooting American citizens in the street and locking investigators out of the crime scenes. The world is watching what happens next.

And not to put too fine a point on it, but a president who ran on eliminating “illegal” immigrants created a ton more “illegal” immigrants by canceling a bunch of actual real legal statuses. He took people off the path that everyone says they want people on.
I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

The murders have understandably gotten the most attention but I really want accountability for the assaults as well. I have been thinking about that person who got pepper sprayed directly in the face while being held down and hoping they're OK.

And, of course, calling an entire demographic group sexual predators/criminals/etc is also Nazi rhetoric.

Not to mention that ICE is doing roving patrols where they stop and assault anyone they think looks foreign or might be filming them. This isn't about anyone's actual criminal record.
It is literally false that the Jews being hunted by Nazis were citizens, because the first step toward genocide was stripping them of citizenship and making them stateless. As Arendt reminds us, citizenship is a legal category created to facilitate a machinery of exclusion of the out-group.

If you're not from Minnesota this may seem like a solidly-worded firm "no."

But you may not realise how MUCH of a no... this is actually the Minnesotan equivalent of yelling "EAT ME" and mooning all the agents.

Politely.

The main takeaway for me here is that they cannot imagine doing labor for others without remuneration. They cannot conceive of giving of themselves to their community. And that really says everything about their ideology.
The fact that every right winger with influence screams "who is paying for all of this" tells you exactly how awash in cash they all are, and how much they rely on that to keep their movement afloat.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

The fact that both Good and Pretti's killers remain at large is in itself damning. On the most neutral, quote unquote law abiding sense, indict them and give them a free trial, as is their right under the Constitution. But even starting that process is something those in power are desperate to avoid
Imagine this in a trial.

Devastating first-hand witness to Alex Pretti's killing

Declaration filed in federal court:

"I don't know why they shot him. He was only helping. I was five feet from him and they just shot him."

Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

remember, you can yell scream and curse at the political fundraising texts, but DO NOT reply with an actionable threat because the US attorney’s office considers the volunteer batch sending them to be a live human recipient of that message. it’s not just a bot. those cases can and do get charged.

People already working hard to prove how perfect Alex Pretti was. To show he didn't "deserve" to be killed. But it's a trap folks. You're only feeding into a dynamic where people who are considered lesser get no protection. You don't have to be an Alex Pretti to deserve to live.
