If you see this, post your bird art.

I have seen so many wild turkeys recently.

To wrap up #BannedBooksWeek, here are banned books that are in my apartment right now! These books have shaped me as a person and as a writer, and I'm so sad that students in some places are being denied access to them.

Another book I love for #BannedBooksWeek: Most Ardently by @thegabecole.bsky.social! It's a fantastic take on Pride and Prejudice, featuring a transmasc Bennet sibling, gay autistic Darcy, and secret queer clubs!

It's still #BannedBooksWeek, and today I'm grateful for May the Best Man Win by @zrellor.bsky.social. It was the first book I ever read with good #ActuallyAutistic rep, and it made me feel SO seen.

It's still #BannedBooksWeek, and today I'd like to celebrate the book Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi. It's a great story about two girls from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds overcoming their negative first impressions of each other and falling in love.

It's #BannedBooksWeek, and I think banning nonfiction like this really gives away the game: book banning is a campaign to try to limit people's access to facts and perspectives that don't fit a narrow narrative that people in power can control.

This #BannedBookWeek, I'm grateful for Little and Lion by Brandy Colbert, which offers an unflinching look at teenage mental health issues and the costs of keeping each other’s secrets. Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the first time I talked someone out of suicide, so this book means a lot.

It's always a good time to listen to #ActuallyAutistic folks. Personally, my favorite two autistic books are May the Best Man Win by @zrellor.bsky.social and Unmasking Autism by Dr. Devon Price. What are your favorite books by autistic authors?

I just finished DEAR WENDY, the book my sister's girlfriend got me for Hanukkah last winter, and it's SO GOOD. As a rather online asexual person myself, I resonated a lot with these characters (especially Sophie, because I am SUCH a Wendy). Hats off to @annzhao.bsky.social for writing a great book!

At @moonpalacebooks.bsky.social for the release of The Lighthouse at the Edge of the World by @jrdawson.bsky.social (which I'm very excited to read), and I spotted another great book as well! Always happy to see work by @venessakelley.bsky.social out in the wild.

I recently finished @venessakelley.bsky.social‬’s amazing debut, an illustrated historical adult romantasy called When the Tides Held the Moon. Hot damn, Venessa. What a beautiful story of queer love, found family, and the tug of war between caring solidarity and corrupting greed. Well done.

I’m excited to announce that I’m self-publishing THE GIRLS WILL BE OKAY, my queer YA debut about fandom, high school, romance, family, inclusive faith communities, and discovering yourself in the wake of loss. No pub date yet because I’m still working out the cover art timeline, but get hyped!

Repost with your first crush.

Yes, it's a boy from a marble sculpture. We studied the sculpture in sixth grade, and for years afterward I would go see him every time I went to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, but eventually I started feeling really weird about our growing age gap.

Just spotted @venessakelley.bsky.social's debut in Planted in Pages bookshop in Provo, Utah!

Frequently misgendered and tired of fighting for respect, nonbinary violinist Jae Caldwell teams up with their youth symphony rival, Madison, to make chair placements in their orchestra fair. Neither of them is prepared for the feelings that ensue. #PosterPitQ #R #YA

I'm a day late with my love letter to libraries, but here it is! @authorsabb.bsky.social @uabookbans.bsky.social Yes, libraries give us books, but I'm also so grateful for the study rooms and printers that have enabled me to work on fun projects and also print out legal paperwork when needed.

This book had been on my TBR for a while. It was a great read to kick off Black History Month! I loved both the ways it was similar to Little Women and the changes it made. It was also a fascinating look at freedpeople's colonies, something I'd barely heard of before reading this book. Check it out!

I got this book because it was free during a recent sale from @littlepuss.net, which I believe I found out about from @thetransfemininereview.com. At first I just wanted to fill up my new e-reader, but the title kept haunting me, and I just read the whole thing in two sittings. Immensely insightful.
