I desperately wanted to do some pre-order bonus art for Yule Be Sorry, but after contacting a few artists, I realized I couldn't afford it.

So did I use gen AI?

NO.

I'm going to save up my money for the next launch or do a Kickstarter and buy art from real degenerates as God intended. 🏳️‍🌈

I am very sad that the days are going to start getting longer soon, so here are 10 US Kindle copies of Peter S. Beagle's classic The Last Unicorn, which is a very, very good book, with depths and metaphors and laughs and sadness. It is a beautiful book.

The last thing I want out of media is a mirror. I don't want movies, books, comics, games, etc... custom made for ME! I want things made by other people that resonate with me, and from which I learn something new.

There is a reason why Narcissus died looking at his own reflection.
YEP "Don't you want custom media generated just for you?" NO!! I want stories made by humans, full of intention and organic creativity!!
Nothing grates me more than when AI game dudes are like "Don't you wish you could ask an NPC aNyThInG?" Absolutely fucking not. If you don't understand that every piece of writing is made with intention, character, and meaningful choice... you probaby shouldn't be directing a fucking video game.

So many. Little notes in my phone. Scribbles on old envelopes and scrap paper before that. Post-it notes.
Are there ideas you love but haven’t figured out how to write yet? I have these snippets I keep track of in a notebook, but I can’t find a home for them yet #writingq #WritingCommunity

Authors, remember that you CAN insist on human translation for your foreign-language editions and have it written into your contracts. You can no longer just assume you're going to get a human to work on the book whose every word you wrote with intent.

Does anyone have any recs for horror novels by trans authors or disabled authors that aren't super body horror-y I can put on our book club calendar this year? (No shade to the body horror but pretty much no one in our book club enjoys it. lol)

@krystlematar.bsky.social YOU GOTTA USE THIS
And of course the long lost but factually impeccable name for a work of fiction over 100k words, a novelissima

I’m looking for a couple of sensitivity readers around the Black and Japanese-American experiences in the Northwest, preferably Portland. The work will be in 2026, for a novella-length (or shorter) work. If any of y’all can point me in the right direction, I’d be most appreciative.

I'll be honest: I burned out real hard this fall, between my wife's surgery, not being able to finish Yule Be Sorry in time to publish this year, and just the world at large, so getting any words feels great. I missed these guys. 336 words so far, and it's a slow day at work... 🤞🏼
