📢 NEW POEM FRESH OFF THE BRAIN GRIDDLE

Here's a new poem I wrote about AI and the enshittification of the Internet.

We're talking about some 100% certified USDA Prime, grass-fed, anthropogenically-generated word vomit. Eager to hear your feedback. Enjoy!
After returning to academia for a postdoc at an R1 institution following a 3-year stint in state + federal agency fisheries research & mgmt roles, I wasn't ready for the rude reminders of just how thickly the egotistical, morally rotten & ultra-competitive vibe is calcified into these institutions.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Read this story this morning, gift linked it below, cannot stop thinking about the absolute moral rot at the core of one’s soul that it would take to stop this investigation (Kash Patel) and allow it to vanish (appointed US Attorney for Minnesota who is a Trumper).

Not a cell of decency. Not one.
Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Renee Good’s vehicle after an immigration agent fatally shot her, but Trump administration officials ordered them to stop investigating. About a dozen prosecutors have since resigned, leaving the Minnesota U.S. attorney’s office in turmoil.
Prosecutors Began Investigating Renee Good’s Killing. Washington Told Them to Stop.

Tatiani Elliot was brave today.

She is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and gave her testimony in front of Washington state legislators. And they silenced her.

Tonight at 8:30 PM our constituent Ricky was pepper sprayed by ICE on 18th & Polk. 2 agents parked their car, got out and approached observers, started pepper spraying Ricky on public property, and then drove away and left.

Nothing is changing on the ground in Minnesota. ICE must be abolished.

This is what happens when a world is built around a system where psychopaths control everything.

They don’t care that everything is going to die, in fact they’re probably cheering it on.

It’s time for those of us capable of love, empathy & compassion to reclaim this world.

If I had to give one piece of relationship advice to young women who are attracted to men, it would be to only date men you think would be fine with you making more. Nothing wrong with him making more or even you being a stay at home mom. But if he'd be triggered by you making more, he's a loser.
I don't know how many girls got psyoped into thinking being strong and independent was loser shit and the tradwife life was all fun and games, but any number above zero is too many.

He pressed them into service as concentration camp guards then forbid them from speaking to Congress. If Abbott/DHS didn’t know it was wrong, they wouldn’t have to hide from oversight.
For months Governor Abbott secretly deployed the Texas National Guard into ICE detention facilities, even forcing them to work in the detention center that imprisoned Liam Ramos and a two month old baby.

Do you know what seedcorn is? It's the portion of corn, usually of good quality, set aside to use for seeds for the future rather than for food (or animal feed) now.

Killing off the Washington Post's books and arts coverage to save money now is very much like eating the cultural seedcorn.
Because the value of books & arts coverage doesn't reside just in the criticism and essays published.

Its ultimate value is in sustaining our culture by inspiring people—including future generations—to care about ideas, stories, beauty, creativity, and what it means to be human beings and citizens.

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

they deserve to be exponentially more widely hated than they are, and I believe we can make this happen together
All these men driving women out of their fields with giggly idiot grabassery and then bloviating to the public about how the lack of women is proof of male intellectual superiority... I hate them all. I hate them so much.

If you're feeling helpless and don't know what to do: Look for people out there who are already helping. I promise they're out there. And then ask how you can help and do it.

You're not alone. Community is out there and it's the way forward. ❤️👊
Fascism wants you to believe that you are alone. That you are isolated. That the feelings you have are yours and nobody else has them because everybody is too afraid to speak.

But love is stronger than fascism. Community is stronger than fascism.

This is one of the most important cases that galvanized Black people in the late 40s through the 1950s. Almost every major Black leader had a comment about it. It is also one of the most successful defense committees that was organized in the 20th century. Almost no one knows about it today.
On this day in 1948, an all-white jury sentenced a Black woman and two of her teenage sons to death for killing an armed white man in self-defense.

Black people have always lived under fascism. The laws and rights that you and I take for granted were never applied equally to Black people.

We got this fascism by disregarding the most vulnerable and marginalized in our society.

If we vote and act to protect Black people, we protect ourselves

This. You can't learn the lesson if you deny your own responsibility, accountability, and culpability. And we need millions of Americans to learn the lesson, how their own rhetoric and actions, especially in the voting booth, have brought us here. This was ALL avoidable.

The western U.S. faces its lowest snowpack on record despite average or above-average rainfall. Warmer temperatures mean more precipitation falls as rain rather than snow, and will worsen droughts in areas like the Pacific Northwest and the Colorado River Basin.
