Because Trump pardoned the insurrectionists, these officers and their families live with the knowledge that their violent attackers have been set free.

During a 10am hearing, we will hear from former law enforcement, state officials, and Americans who witnessed the attack. Tune in here⤵️

5 years ago, Donald Trump incited a violent insurrection to overthrow the will of the people. He failed thanks to the bravery of Capitol Police on Jan 6.

Today, as he continues to threaten our democracy, we will keep standing strong for the country we love.

Since then, Trump and his allies have tried to deny the facts and whitewash the truth. I will not be complicit in lies designed to protect his ego and escape accountability. (2/2)

It was five years ago today that Trump incited his insurrection against the Capitol in a violent effort to overturn a fair election. His goal was to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power that has sustained this country since its founding and deliver a fatal blow to the democracy we hold sacred.

As I said during Trump’s second impeachment trial, for centuries we accepted the peaceful transfer of power as fact.

5 years ago, that changed, when our Capitol — and our republic — were attacked.

Today, we remember the violent insurrection at the Capitol that occurred on Jan 6, 2021.
Speaker Johnson has refused to hang the memorial plaque honoring Capitol Police so I have a copy on display outside of my office.
