You ever think about what a fucking miracle it is that Shape of Water exists? Not only did GDT manage to get taken seriously enough to win best fucking picture in 2018 but it did so without compromising on being 100% For All You Monsterfuckers Out There. What the fuck.

@nytimes.com , as you know, many people have said, admittedly without evidence, that every single story you run has to be personally approved by a billionaire before it’s published. Is that true?

it's important to understand that when the NY Times does this - "asks a question" with no evidence behind it - it's because they want to raise the salience of the question.
They want to imply that it's a reasonable thing to ask.
They want to help the allegation stick against Ms Rachel.

If they are acting the way "bad faith leftists" assume they act, maybe the leftists were simply correct? In fact, if you look at the leftist sentiment on everything this past election cycle, they have the single most accurate track record of anyone else.
Maybe it's just salient analysis.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!
That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

What we are seeing is a replay of the surrender on Covid protections because it was going to impact the wealth class in a way that would make it harder to accrue wealth without consequences.
Liberals already made the choice to kill millions to maintain the wealth class status quo.

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week
Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

Really, you are going to come at me like this?
okay but what if i've been mediating my personality through acts of service to others for so long that that's what makes me endearing and as i slowly begin to want things for myself i feel less, like, safe, or fun to be around, or like not as good somehow and wind up being less than i think i am

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
