When the doors are open and the light is let in, I really shudder to think about what my state will have willingly, enthusiastically enabled on its soil.
Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi are already black holes for detention. Now obtaining release will be more difficult than ever. As more and more people are locked up, ICE will increase the pressure on those who are detained to give up.

No law says the president can change residents’ legal status if he’s bigoted against their group and the VP lied about them.
People who aren’t “model immigrants” don’t deserve this either, but it’s an extra twist that these folks are.

As someone in my early 40s who has never voted D in a national election and who is happy Roe v. Wade got overturned, I will probably vote straight ticket D in ‘26 and ‘28 and for the foreseeable future. Every existing R has proven themselves incapable of upholding this democratic republic in any way
Real talk: if the environment is anything close to what yesterday’s special election implies in November, there need to be people working very hard on a serious agenda for a substantial Democratic majority in both houses of Congress, focused on voting rights, democracy, and court reform.

The next Democratic president/Congress should offer to fly back every person deported after having TPS revoked, generously compensate them, and offer them citizenship. Let MAGA whine about replacement theory all they want. What they’re doing is reprehensible. We should make it right.

IDK why right-wingers keep bringing up Obama's record deportations, it just shows that if you wanted to have a conservative immigration policy without partisan militias occupying cities and gunning people down in the streets you could do it and a lot of americans would be fine with it
