I want my tech to improve peoples' lives, not be the Environmental Desctruvtion Bullshit/Plagiarism Machine.
I am a luddite and to me there is a lot of joy in technology. In technology that we deploy for all our wellbeing. Solar panels and vaccines, high-speed rail and wikipedia.
But they joy stems from the feeling of being able to be part of humanity in an embedded, meaningful way. Not from buying shit.

I am a frequenter of the Taco Bell/Jiffy Lube. It's en route from my house to our keyboardists' house where we rehearse.
Kinda wish I had a Taco Bell/urgent care...though there's an urgent care in my backyard and a Taco Bell/KFC like half a mile away...

If I were a journalist I would care much more about engagement with my story then about mean replies. There's ample data showing clickthrough rates are higher on BlueSky then X. BlueSky folks love to hate read.

Female coworker with neon blue hair and 7 carabiners on her belt asked me why everyone thinks she's a lesbian (she's cishet). She gasped when I told her she is 100% queer coded, and the 4 other queer coworkers in the shop all assumed she was gay.
Haven't had to explain handkerchief code, though.
