While I'm not running for a federal office (this time...) I can tell you that I wouldn't cave like Schumer and friends.
I'd use my own money to power up mutual aid networks and support systems so we can win the damn fight.

It might work as a strategy... but either way, it further destroys trust in electeds and democracy as a whole, particularly if those Dems don't actually fix the problem (as they historically have not). It suggests to people that the two parties are the same -- they seek only power at any cost.
Anyway, I think Dems are right to believe subsidy expiration, because many Americans will suffer and maybe die, is going to hurt Republicans in the midterms. A less harmful way to do well in elections, though, is to offer voters a compelling vision for why they should vote, affirmatively, for you.
