Today is the first day of Ramadan, the first day of Adar, Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras.

This means that for one reason or another, the majority of humans on the planet have a reason to eat fried food, and that is beautiful.

Hey friends! We're probably another two weeks from finding out if I get SSI back so here's a reminder that until I get that letter, I need help. Okay. Thank you.

Your regular reminder that what people look like, their hair is like, their clothes are like, is not the point.

We are here to call people to account for what they do and say. That is what matters.

We are here to fight for the dignity of every single human being.

Pursue justice justly.

Fun fact:

This is how you earn trans peoples votes
My Trans Bill of Rights protects the freedom for all trans people to live as their full, authentic selves. It’s time to get this passed!

The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

This thread is the we are going to win thread, is the kids are alright thread, is the STOP ICE thread, is the civil society rising thread; read it through.
Let me tell you a tale of how completely the normies have been mobilized. My 14 year-old niece has done School of Rock for the past 5 years; last summer she was part of their touring band, and the kids loved playing together so much that they decided to keep doing it. (1/?)

here’s a very short and succinct primer:
Acknowledging that the modern political state of Israel is a European coloniser state committing genocide against Palestinians: not antisemitic.
Blaming the genocide on “the Jews” and accusing “the Jews” of all offences: antisemitic af
But no she seems to be using Palestine as her excuse to be horrible

People are like "oh wow it must be so hard to come out as Trans" and my siblings in Christ, the last time I outed myself as trans it was to the Mother Superior of a Convent and I was actively doing finger guns at her at the time.

I’m going to keep sharing this PSA: although the MMR is usually given at 12 and 18 months, your baby can get a first dose as early as 6 months. They will still need the other two doses, because immunity doesn’t stick at that age, and insurance may not cover it. But it’s protection.

So I just wanted to remind everyone one of the principles of malignant accounts: the 60-40 rule

I have been known to joke that since I was already planning on taking multiple medications for the rest of my life due to disability, there was really no reason NOT to go ahead and be trans. Might as well at that point, really.
Seriously, we need to ask this question more often. If someone takes a medication “for the rest of their lives,” why should that be the concern of anyone else?
Benjamin, little button, what business is it of yours when someone—who is especially NOT you—receives a medication that they may take for many years to come?

I'm married to a T1D. it's that or dead. I have POTS. I was diagnosed late, but I expect to be on medication for the rest of my life. man, it fucking sucked not being diagnosed and medicated.

a lot of ppl in the USA would’ve said this exact thing less than a decade ago, and a lot of ppl who live in countries with large far-right political movements rapidly gaining ground (often helped by the same tech billionaire players as here) seem too busy looking askance at the States to notice
It's great to live in a country (Canada, Japan, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, etc.) where citizens don't worry about if the next election will be canceled, if they will be allowed to register to vote, if they will have to stand in line for hours to vote, or if their vote will be counted.

It took a hot minute, but I can finally share my new paper on evidentiary pragmatism in transgender health care!

In it, I propose a new principle for evaluating scientific evidence based on the best reasonably achievable evidence, avoiding the ‘catch-22’ where trans care can never be justified.

this quoted post is uninformed nonsense. policy changes towards trans people have been profound at both the state and federal level.

the EEOC won’t even process charges of trans discrimination right now for fucks sake.
now, personally, I don’t care about making fun of streamers but I simply wouldn’t pretend to give a shit about trans people while minimizing their oppression and doing this in support of vote shaming for a transphobe like Newsom 2 years early
