Great thread. Arriving at genuine knowledge always involves the friction of encountering complicating evidence and countervailing interpretations held by different humans you can’t control or ignore. LLMs eliminate that friction, and thus become slippery slopes into delusional rabbit holes.
LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

Trump would only do this if:

a. He thinks he has it blocked in the Senate

b. He thinks he can withhold everything as part of an "ongoing investigation"

c. They're already altered / redacted the contents of the evidence enough to hide anything REALLY incriminating

The president’s shift is an implicit acknowledgement that supporters of the measure have enough votes to pass it the House...It is a rare example of Trump backtracking because of opposition within the GOP.

v pleased Sotomayor just said this same damn thing at oral argument in the tariffs case like UM didn't we say in the student loans case??

DOJ said this is different bc there's a foreign emergency; Sotomayor said ok bet, so we say global warming is an emergency and then we can have loan forgiveness?
Every time I see Trump claim vast powers over economic policy that the Constitution does not give him, often only for the Supreme Court to step in and go 'seems legit,' I can't help but think about the Court carrying on as if canceling some student loan debt was shocking executive overreach

In a trio of cases, two currently pending before the Supreme Court and one that is likely to land on the justices’ doorstep as soon as Tuesday, President Donald Trump claims new powers that, if he prevails, would give him near-total control over all US fiscal and monetary policy.

I really am just working from the basic premise of political science that public opinion isn’t just measurable — you can and should CREATE it.
This never stops being true, but I’m not sure Ds have ever, at least in my lifetime, learned to apply it for good. *Creating* public opinion either never occurs to them, or if it does, offends their sensibilities? It’s exasperating

Only 36% of those over the age of 65 agree.

If you were a foreign adversary trying to get the US to cripple itself economically, academically, politically, or public health-wise, is there is a single thing you’d want the GOP to do differently?

Genuinely can’t see it.

Not even suggesting DeSantis is a foreign asset. But he might as well be.
FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.
