I'm taking this personally, @kaine.senate.gov .

Turns out this was the right take.
If I lived in Virginia, the second that Spanberger is sworn in as governor, I'd be demanding @kaine.senate.gov's resignation so she could replace him with someone who's actually aware of what is going on.

You didn't get a vote. You got a "promise" of a vote. From a party who is disappearing nannies & gardeners and zip-tying children. A party who has flushed Due Process in America down the toilet. Who has subjugated its Congressional duties to an autocrat. That's what everybody sees, Tim.

8 of us. Not millions who will be unable to afford health insurance because they got scammed.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Tim Kaine betrayed his constituents, but he and Mark Warner are thick as thieves. They just stole Healthcare from millions of Americans. Is there any way to put together a primary challenge to Mark Warner?

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

if Indivisible is saying this, I'm boosting it. We need to call our Senators. Please don't let them do this.
I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Let this sink in. The President of the United States is now appealing a court order forcing him to feed starving children.

Jacky Rosen is one of the more moderate Democrats. She's a pretty even-keeled person and she's been livid this whole week.
Pure 🔥🔥🔥from Sen. Rosen: "This is a Republican shutdown...You are in control of the White House, the House, and the Senate. If you went home to a food bank instead of going to Mar-A-Lago...while people are starving, you might see and hear your constituents. You are blind to the suffering."

The current regime is using starvation as a political tactic. We can support our neighbors and still pressure our reps to hold the line. Re-upping this for the helpers.
No one should go have to go hungry - no one. For those in the CVille area looking to donate (and note: cash goes further than cans) or for those needing help, here's a list of local orgs trying to combat food scarcity: bit.ly/4hzEui2
About 850,000 Virginians who depend on SNAP to feed their families are waiting with anxiety, as the program is scheduled to pause Nov. 1. Gov. Youngkin's emergency order offers short-term relief but a prolonged federal impasse threatens to deepen food insecurity. virginiamercury.com/2025/10/27/i...

If you are tempted to avoid jury service because it's inconvenient or difficult, please remember this case and the others that have found citizens targeted by this administration not guilty. Jury service is public service and your participation absolutely matters.
🚨🚨🚨 The jury has reached a verdict. Sean Dunn, aka the DC Sandwich Guy, has been found NOT GUILTY of assault.

Look at the shifts in VA. How do we continue to build on this? How do we safeguard our elections and our electoral systems? Locally, we are going to continue to organize. 1/

100%. Progressive ideas are GOOD ideas.
I agree with this thread, but I also need to add one thing:

The idea that progressives can't win in conservative areas? We need to challenge that, and after this election, we can.
The thing is that I agree with the notion that we need a broad coalition! Candidates exactly like Mamdani aren’t necessarily going to clean up everywhere! The thing is that I suspect a lot of the centrists saying that not every candidate can be Mamdani actually want NO candidates to be Mamdani
