JOIN US TOMORROW. Stand in solidarity with Minnesota and call out Target (a Minnesota-based company) for their complicity in allowing ICE to stage in their parking lots and enter their stores to abduct people. #ICEoutofMinnesota , #ICEOutForGood, #iceoutofourcommunities #AbolishICE

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Misinformation and rumors cause panic — Share facts only! Try to get the SALUTE information so the sighting can be verified. Not “I saw ICE south of town” but “at about 10am, I saw 4 men in uniforms (couldn’t see what kind) in 2 unmarked black SUVs getting gas at the Exxon on Route 20”

I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

One of those times I question our choice to live waaaay out of town, over a narrow bridge, and up a quarter mile of steep, twisty gravel🥶🌨️
Current weekend thoughts:
1) Confident in at least 6-12+", forecast could trend higher.
2) Hints of system ending later Sunday as freezing rain/sleet (ice). Sub-freezing temps + windy Monday = power outage potential GREATLY increased.
3) Frigid temps to follow --> very little melting.

More later.

Rep. Keith Self on anti-ICE protesters who disrupted a church service in the Twin Cities: "I compare them to Hamas who live-streamed the attack in Israel that killed hundreds of people. They want to instill terror."

ICE got plenty of money when Chuck Schumer folded and now they're saying fuck you. What a shock. If anyone continues to fund the government at the end of the month they are Republican.
1. ICE has STOPPED PAYING for medical treatment for its 73,000 detainees

ICE has not paid its bills to 3rd party providers since OCTOBER and the situation will likely persist for MONTHS, a Popular Information investigation reveals

Meanwhile, critically ill ICE detainees are not receiving care

I’m going to keep hammering this point: the excesses of ICE we see now are entirely contiguous with our system of policing more broadly, and the reason that almost no politician wants to threaten real consequences for ICE agents is because it opens the door to making the same demands of the cops

Centrists/libs are terrified that someone, somewhere will do something even mildly violent at a protest and make them look un-respectable. It is the worst thing.
There are strategic reasons why nonviolent opposition may be the best play here, but when folks like Walz chide folks preemptively about respectable protest... all they are really doing is make people wonder if these really ARE protesters on the edge of violence.

Not headline news. No real fuss by Democratic leaders. No calls to censure. No pushback. No questions asked of GOP leadership by the press.

Just totally accepted anti-Muslim bigotry across the board.

The thing about the guy who started We Rate Dogs is he’s always been a good dude and not shy about standing up for all creatures, great and small. Anyone who’s been following his account would know this.

If leading Democrats came out in support of Abolish Ice / Fund Healthcare, it would easily get 65+% support (extrapolating from current polling) AND it is the right thing to do AND it would show that Democrats are standing with their people. Classic Win-Win-Win.

The current polling is only like 50/50 on eliminating ICE but every politician needs to ask themselves "Will Trump show more tact and thoughtfulness with how he uses ICE over the next year or will he double down on everything driving ICE's growing unpopularity?"
I think the answer is clear.
Gallego ("moderate" Dem) is going with "ICE needs to be totally torn down" (not "reform and retrain"). This is a pivot point for the country on immigration. You have been seeing this in the data for a while, and now officials are snapping to the public opinion www.gelliottmorris.com/p/ice-is-a-7...

i’m a little confused about how “abolish ICE” requires too much explaining to be good politics, but a set of opaque incremental reforms does not.
