on some level you have to stand in awe of the gall it takes to use this tone about someone people are angry at for suppressing a story about a concentration camp

When I was a kid, cynics said "the president claims his war is about human rights but it's REALLY about controlling oil!". Now cynics are saying "the president claims his war is about controlling oil but it's REALLY about his own personal involvement in a mass child trafficking network!".
Look, I'm not one to quickly believe in conspiracy theories about us attacking Venezuela on a made up provocation to distract from the Epstein files, but the timing of all this is not helping me convince myself that it's not true.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

I guess this has probably already gone viral somewhere but I am simply dying at this picture of a bear that looks like it hired a photographer to do a glamour shoot

I think the best way to explain the X vs Bluesky preference is whether a person thinks the left is more annoying than the right is dangerous.
The reason so many Noah Smiths end up on the X side of that equation is that while the left annoys them personally, the right mostly endangers other people.

Maybe we log on to social media for reasons other than combating the right
Still thinking about this. So much of online is being mean to people we don’t like. Even when they deserve it I still think the toxicity of the medium is a bit much for me at times. So don’t be surprised if I don’t have much to post for a while
The weird thing about online is, if someone says something you think is wrong you get to be as mean as possible to them in response, and no one calls you an asshole

Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

If you were a particularly litigious six year old and you had a bone to pick with the NYT, you might tweet this
I’m what you’d call an “A list” musician here in Nashville, TN. What I do is under threat from AI, & it’s finally bridging a gap between us & indie musicians (that never should have existed). Marc Ribot and John Medehski have started a great new group to address this & we made a statement this week.
