One thing I want to add to the "everyone can make art" discourse is that professionalizing your hobbies might be worse than just dealing with a shitty job. YMMV but there's alot of survivorship bias on one end and a bit of vicarious yearning on the other.

Customer support told me to unplug it and plug it back in, and I begrudgingly did it, but it totally fixed everything and now I’m contemplating just not admitting it out of sheer embarrassment

Maybe it's because I've kind of fallen away from art criticism circles but it's shocking how far the broader art discourse has shifted. A decade ago the worst of it might've been tourists making fun of paintings at the MoMA, but nowadays we have to defend the utility of human expression.

Are there any good tutorials/resources for learning how to draw effects? Stuff like lightning, energy, dust, splashes, etc?

The quick draft bot in MTG Arena seems designed to only offer you half of a usable Lorwyn tribal deck, it's pretty miserable

Just looking at the raw input from my Intuos the stems are already pretty prominent, so I imagine it's going to be about finding a good combination of post-processing and using the pen a bit differently.
I don't actually mind doing line art on paper but I've always hated doing it in digital.

The Lady Nezumi plugin seems helpful but I'm on OSX so unfortunately it isn't an option.

Still thinking about No Other Choice. Wasn't that enthusiastic leaving the theater but it really left an impression on me. Such a cynical film but one with so much sympathy for all its characters.
