Audax, underbiking & velomobiles. Occasional tallbiking. Genius who brought you SPD Crocs, inventor of the Meths Martini & no longer allowed unsupervised lab access. Upsetting in an oddly lingering kind of way.
"....and in its final act it turns into Triumph of the Will".

Kermode deserves a knighthood for this. Or possibly a Nobel prize.

Make anyone with the ability to control a vehicle have to have a licence from the area they are controlling the vehicle.

A taxi licence would be appropriate as well.

If your first draft of an academic paper is free of profanity and rudeness, you're doing it wrong and the final version will be affected. This new trend of professors watching the process from start to finish in an futile effort to thwart AI is going to ruin everything.

Given the current state of the world, it’s not unreasonable for @theonion.com to have just given up on satire and transitioned into mainstream reporting.

The Home Office now describes asylum seekers as "illegal immigrants [living in hotels]" with no reference to the reason that these people are in government-funded accommodation is that this government has taken & will process the asylum claim from them in 98-99% of cases of unauthorised entry.

“Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."

The scientists are mostly happy, engineering are confident. But this decision is way above my pay grade, so although it’s my recommendation to go ahead, YOU need to decide.
"Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."

"You're on mute, Dave."
"Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."

We should be able to test at a higher frequency next week, again (reader, we have still not been able to test at a higher frequency)

Memories reminding me 3 years since Look Mum No Hands closed. I miss that place, I miss taking half days to watch GT stages (The closest I'd ever get to footy supporters watching in the pub). Son had his first coffee there. It shook me when it closed & tears were shed when I broke my mug

I see your mother has discovered Fesshole.
I was just having a good ball scratching session, and hit a spot that made me involuntary shake my leg in the air. I've never felt closer to my animal roots.

Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it

Watched Tron Ares tonight. Very good. Apart from the Alignment Problem just solving itself. And the pitifully low dimensionality of The Grid. Nevertheless worth watching.

When I was doing triathlons, I had a stash of American blue Gatorade for mid-race pick-me-ups. I swear this stuff was actually produced by some sort of agrochemicals company, who'd got the recipe from the CIA's MKUltra files...

Not to downplay anyone's feelings or concerns, but surely HGVs mounting the pavement are an order of magnitude more dangerous than a cycle track at a bus stop. Odd how groups claiming to represent pedestrians and those with disabilities don't seem to be vocally exercised by this kind of thing eh?

We need a UK Digital Sovereignty Strategy!

Our over-reliance on foreign tech giants is a huge risk to our security and resilience when faced with Donald Trump’s ever increasing belligerence.

Companies like Palantir have no place in our critical digital infrastructure.
