Just spoken at the Roadpeace event for World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

The experiences of bereaved families and injured people must be heard so institutions like the Met and TfL behave with empathy and understanding of the acute trauma and violence involved in road death.
Disappointed that the Met Commissioner does not see the part that a good collision investigation plays in road traffic victims getting justice after a crash.

With all Green MPs, I voted to keep the vital nature protections in Lords Amendment 130 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill last night (now no.40 in our weird processes). The Govt is ignoring evidence and playing political games with our ecosystem. hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2025...

Trans+ people deserve to live, thrive, and belong in this country - without fear or barriers, and without being dehumanised, vilified, and treated as convenient political targets

📉 But new @yougov.co.uk / @goodlawproject.bsky.social polling exposes just how badly Britain is failing on this

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

I agree 100%. My experience working in the London Assembly was that it didn't just do excellent scrutiny for the wider public, but also generated a lot of very good ideas that went on to be mayoral policy (in my own work e.g. CLTs, ULEZ, cycle infrastructure, and prior to me the living wage unit)

The Government must give us more time in Parliament to progress #EllasLaw and make breathing clean air a human right.

Today I joined cross-party MPs, the brilliant
@ellarobertafdn.bsky.social, and clean air activists all calling for stronger action on deadly air pollution.

This is fantastic progress and of course we love peering at civil engineering projects! Thanks, Caroline! And thanks also to TfL!
Hey 👋 anyone who likes peering at civil engineering projects as they get underway.

There's a new and helpful TFL update on the Cutty Sark Station escalators. They seem to have made decent progress in September and October.

Always worth checking out @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social threads. 👏

This one on walking speeds, crossing times and older people.

Properly important to consider these details if we want inclusive streets where people are enabled to get around safely and conveniently on foot.
I've been looking at a pedestrian crossing this afternoon and specifically crossing times. While lots of people worry about the length of time the green man shows (which is important to some extent), the key think is the "blackout period" when someone sets foot on the crossing just as the green

“The public are being told by reporters that climate scientists are warning that we must stop burning fossil fuels, but those who still buy print newspapers are bombarded with adverts suggesting everyone else is enjoying long haul flights and luxury cruises,”
buff.ly/e8P7BEE UK newspapers devoted more than triple the column inches to advertising high-carbon products like cruises, SUVs and flights than they did to covering last year's global climate negotiations , according to a study by the New Weather Institute.

Space devoted to promoting flights, cruises, SUVs, and the oil industry dwarfed the column inches given to last year's U.N. climate summit, study finds.

I wonder how the British Olympic Association/Team GB will react to this. It'd surely be illegal for them to support such a policy – direct discrimination on the basis of gender reassignment status.

It's exasperating to witness how almost everyone everywhere in any position of power if any kind currently seems pre-occupied with doing unnecessary but seriously harmful things. They could be doing truly important and valuable things to make positive, meaningful changes and yet they choose harm.

This is utterly shocking. The Olympic spirit is about inclusive humanity and kindness.

The discriminatory harm of a blanket ban on trans and intersex people taking part in Olympic sport as women couldn’t be further from the ideal.
The International Olympic Committee is set to ban trans and intersex women from competition. This is despite the fact that for 20 years, the IOC has allowed trans athletes to compete and only 1 has ever competed and none have ever won a medal.

Who's Funding the War on Trans Inclusion?
