I wonder how the British Olympic Association/Team GB will react to this. It'd surely be illegal for them to support such a policy – direct discrimination on the basis of gender reassignment status.

It's exasperating to witness how almost everyone everywhere in any position of power if any kind currently seems pre-occupied with doing unnecessary but seriously harmful things. They could be doing truly important and valuable things to make positive, meaningful changes and yet they choose harm.

Thanks, you are right to point this out - that answer needs work. Zack’s a very fast learner and open hearted to learning all the time.

He makes out it’s about stopping people coming riskily on small boats, but he’s changed skilled worker visa rules affecting people who have studied here, done grad visa work expecting to move on to jobs that he’s abruptly said are no longer eligible.

The Standard’s @rosslydall.bsky.social has picked up on the devastating impact, to people on graduate visas, of the government’s abrupt changes to skilled worker visas that I raised with the Mayor at MQT this week.

I hope he gets a better reply from Mike Tapp than I did.
“changes include raising skills
threshold to RQF 6 and a routine uplift of salary going rates”
No empathy for workers who studied, worked on grad visa then found skilled worker visa suddenly removed.

IMHO they had poor legal advice.
That's no excuse. But orgs that want to be inclusive need to be bolder. Being overtly inclusive WILL result in being shouted at and, possibly, threatened with legal action. But compliance in advance is at the top of a very slippery slope...

Exactly. Transphobia is being baked in through legislative confusion and organisations being bullied by the possibility of legal threats.
They should have stood up for the inclusive values they say they hold.
