complete digression but this one always cracks me up because sure yes the *modern* tampon was invented by Tampax to treat bullet wounds but you know who invented tampons to manage menstrual bleeding? Nah we don’t know either because the earliest written records of them are from nearly 4000 years ago
Clever.

I have in a professional capacity used tampons for things rather closer to their original design purpose (packing gunshot wounds) than might be expected, and this notion has come as a surprise to colleagues including at referral, who clearly never thought to do that?

I see Amazon wisely don't have an account here, as far as I can tell. I came here to congratulate them on the fatal enshittification of their Music app, which now won't let me listen to the music I've bought, but plays other stuff it thinks I might like (buy) instead. Nope. Bye bye app: 🛢️🔥

They’re already a failure at the council level. Why aren’t journalists asking them why they wouldn’t be a failure at running the country when they’re already failing miserably at running county councils?

How many reform councillors have been suspended/quit? How many taxes risen after cuts promised?

I hope NCMEC is happy with their choice to throw trans kids under the bus in order to appease an administration that [checks notes] reassigned so many CSAM investigators to go arrest nannies that it's caused a "noticeable drop" in follow-ups on platforms' CyberTips.

The bigger question is: since Labour now seem to have pissed off *everyone* and are likely to get their *rse handed to them on the way out, at the next election...
who do you vote for to get your fundamental rights back?
🟩🟨
ffs what is labour doing here? when will they learn they can’t win (and shouldn’t win) on the right’s terms?

Indeed. There are plenty of other questions, too, that are unanswered by a white paper that, given how long it has been in the making, is surprisingly light on detail. I flag some of the key legal and constitutional questions that need to be answered here: publiclawforeveryone.com/2025/11/17/t...

Earlier this Nov., the Commission announced this joint effort with Ofcom and the Aus Safety Commission. You might wonder how they manage to claim those two regulators have achieved "world leading" child safety programs and yet only now be considering the privacy and security aspects. 🤷‍♂️💁‍♂️🤦‍♂️

One of the most shameful incidents of WW2 was when the government and press scapegoated refugees, then decided to pack them off an a cramped ship, The HMT DUNERA and ship them to Australia.

As they boarded the boat they were stripped of the valuables and robbed by the guards.

Now government policy

I'd be willing to bet that the people who reckon their cost-of-living woes are all caused by immigrants are the same people who reckoned that all the UK's domestic woes were caused by the 1.6% of Government spending that went on EU membership.
Yesterday, we put out a report on the most important issues to voters.

We know that immigration now tops the traditional most important issues question (see below from @yougov.co.uk).

But that doesn't tell the full story.

Here is a rundown of the experiments we did to test this out (A THREAD):

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

British power came from being at the centre of a global network of trade, conquest, and exploitation. We managed to shake off *some* of the more unpleasant aspects of that in the late 20th Century, but we still needed the rest of the world.

I've got an idea - how about scrapping the Home Office and using the savings to help asylum seekers become tax-paying citizens. Two decades since it was pointed out to John Reid, and the Home Office is still not fit for purpose.
This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

The answer is: they do not improve them. There will be no new money and there is nothing that will help address real problems in communities because they simply do not stem from people seeking sanctuary with us.‘

🌍 42.5m refugees
Over 70% of them are hosted by low- and middle-income countries.

🇬🇧 548k refugees
= 0.78% of the UK population.

It is not refugees who tear our country apart, it is the mainstreaming of far right policies. And that’s a risk to all of us.
