Feeling productive today, so also wrote a piece about the excellent Earth Must Die from @danthat.bsky.social @timegentleman.bsky.social and friends. This is a brilliant, unusual adventure with some biting satire, a truly hilarious script and an incredible voice cast. moegamer.net/2026/02/01/e...

And Joscha Bach! Abhorrent stuff.

I did a search for "cognition" and there is at least one *exceptionally racist* Joscha Bach email in there, attitudes that are not alluded to in other citations (Wikipedia; Bach was discussed in a Sept. '19 Science piece about Epstein...)

In the '90s, unimaginative blowhards included bullshit like this at the front of their books rather than acknowledge the existence of women and anyone else who wasn't a cis dude.

A species of, "I don't want to be 'PC' because I find it inconvenient and your absence doesn't affect me personally."

I admire folks who do so, and admire even more those who can do so with a spirit of curiosity. Instead of subtweeting displeasure, has anyone here tried engaging in dialogue? (8/end)

And Epstein was an explicit eugenicist! Even in the (unlikely) scenario that the academics writing him chummy emails didn't know about the pedophilia charges, they were seeking funding because they thought their work aligned with his interests, which were monstrous.

Reminded of the time that a BBC World Service presenter asked their guest how long there had been a Latino presence in Los Angeles and I yelled at my car stereo, “The name of the city is **LOS ANGELES**!”
I may have a stroke.

Someone said protests don’t belong in church and it took every ounce of self-censure within me not to say “Deborah you are literally a Protestant.”

A PROTESTant.

I assume they think Luther was nailing Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to the door.
