No, in fact, these sustained attacks were termed programs by Israelis. (otherwise not a term I’d use on my own) Yet, although there are similarities, this is in the Negev.. they’re ostensibly Israeli citizens, these Bedouins. Some performed incredibly heroic acts saving lives on Oct 7.

The Bedouin of Tarabeen A-Sane’ protest the ongoing attacks on the village.
Israeli police have repeatedly raided the village of Tarabeen a-Sane’, attacking and arresting residents. This is after Itamar Ben Gvir visited the village incited hatred against the residents.

The corollary to this is acknowledging that the only people who can stop this are <Republicans> in Congress, & everyone - especially journalists - should stop giving them total free passes every day & asking them nonstop why they aren’t fulfilling their oaths & upholding the law or the Constitution.
To the extent anyone wants to invoke Congress at all, why do it as an abstraction? Congress is weak and isn't going to rein Trump in because the Republican Party supports him no matter what and needs to be removed from power. Just say that.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., expresses support for Trump’s military action in Venezuela.

The House Armed Services Committee also was not briefed, I've confirmed.
News: Gang of Eight in Congress were only notified about Trump's Venezuela operation after it began, source familiar tells me. That means the heads of the Intelligence Committees in Senate and House were *not* consulted. Just crazy.

Statement on behalf of the European Union indicates Trump will not receive pushback from Europe for his actions in Venezuela:
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)

A lot of the mainstream commentary and analysis seems to be breaking up on the rocks of this unavoidable fact.

There is no way to assess the situation and predict what comes next because there is no organizing logic for what is happening.
Some random thoughts besides the illegality of it all.

1. There's no tactical or strategic logic to it because to the extent Venezuela represents a problem, it is not one that military force can solve.

House Republicans need to do something now. This is on them.

Representative Mike Turner (OH), what are you going to do? On Dec 23rd you were supportive of boarding the Venezuelan ship. What now?

The rules-based international order was always a euphemism for what the US government was prepared to back with force, but kidnapping a foreign leader does suggest that DJT needs to watch much less television. This is the scheme of a Batman villain.

Whatever you might think of Maduro, the seizure and kidnapping of a head of state takes us to a very dark place. Vast, arbitrary, extra-legal power, which could be exercised almost anywhere, regardless of the character of the target government.
