So very tired, but I couldn't let 2025 end without taking stock of Microsoft's embarrassing treatment of gaming, Windows, and indeed human beings while it chases the AI money train
Microsoft's year of shame
Can't make a few trillion dollars without ditching game developers, going googoo gaga for AI and supplying tech to the military, I suppose!

i think if you use genai for anything, even writing an email, you're both a moron and a huge baby, and i dont want to play your video game as a result. its not that hard!
As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?

More solid Steam Sale recommendations here. You cannot fault Francisco for the love he has for his work. With all the (justified) grumbling over AI and suchlike recently, honest creative teams creating clear passion projects deserve your time and money.
The Winter Sale numbers have been pretty abysmal so I’m just going to keep shouting about my games being on sale until things pick up.

Buy my games, please. I guarantee you’ll have fun with them.

The games industry is very weird at the moment. People aren't buying games. Your support is needed more than ever, and goes a long way.

I'm very proud of what Size Five is. You genuinely can't tell what we'll be making next, we're *eclectic*. I'd like to keep that spirit going.

Okay this is some strong as hell maths.

Can't tell you how much buying the Size Five games helps me out.

If you follow me but don't own these yet, please grab them now. It's the *actual best Christmas present* to help keep my weird little company afloat. Thank you.
Okay, it's that time again: you can currently buy all available Size Five games on Steam at 75% off. That's six brillo games for less than a tenner! What a festive treat!

I want to repost this. If only to try to discourage my fellow copyeditors from wasting $700 taking a course from an AI booster. Not to mention all the follow-up courses you'll be pressured to take.

A technology you need multiple multi-week courses to learn isn't saving you much time.
A thread 🧵of an article I wrote about generative AI.

I know I’ve posted a lot lately about the negatives of using generative AI, but there are still some aspects of it that I have yet to discuss.

It's the last work day of the year, so post a video game banger.

It's borderline criminal that no version of DoDonPachi Resurrection other than the mobile port includes this spectacular example of First Level Music -- even if the standard OST is still pretty great.

I attended a funeral earlier this year and was asked to say a few words. I said just one -- "Bargain". When I sat down, the widow turned to me and said "Thank you. That means a great deal."
I also want to say thank you to the person who introduced me to the French word 'beaucoup' this year. It means a lot.
