The execution of Alex Pretti is playing so badly because you can look at his actions and life story - his last act was helping, boy scout, athlete, health care worker to veterans - and compare those to the men who killed him and know which you would want to be your son, brother, father, uncle.

The thing about the murders of Good and Pretti. Before the murders, ICE/CBP arent serving *any* legitimate law enforcement purpose, much less their ostensible purpose of detaining/removing undocumented immigrants. They are getting in the faces of observers and escalating.

i personally think “don’t fund the gestapo” is a relatively small ask in the face of an illegal violent occupation of a US city that has killed at least one citizen and terrorized countless more. any elected who cannot clear even that modest bar is dead to me

VANCE’S MOM: So you’re telling me, you’ll take him away, AND give me drugs?
Vance in MN: "It's really cold outside. We in the Trump administration want to deport criminal aliens who are sex offenders. It takes a certain level of committed to sex offender criminal aliens to stand outside in -40 temperatures and attack the vice president, but they're committed to the bit."

It’s important for everyone to realize: she is doing this intentionally. She views the fight against ICE in Minneapolis as a political liability, and this is her distancing herself from it. She is dabbing on you
I joined agriculture leaders from across the state today in Mankato for the Minnesota Ag Expo. Minnesota farmers are the backbone of our economy, and we must ensure they have what they need to thrive—strong markets and stable trade policies.

ICE is seriously going to be Gaza all over again for Democrats isn’t it. They’re going to try it again, insisting if they just don’t talk about it then it’s not actually an issue that matters to millions of voters.
NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.
Zero Chucks Left to Give
Chuck Schumer now sees a path back to the majority. Can he manage his way through it?

As a reliable democratic voter I’m so tired of my party’s leadership having more contempt for me than for their Republican “colleagues”

The strategy that’s never even contemplated despite Trump winning with it twice: continuously throw red meat to your base and drum up enough enthusiasm that the squishes get swept up in it
Losing my mind at the Dems with their billionaire backers and powerful friends who have come up with the brilliant strategy that the party should adopt the policy positions of the avg MAGA voter — apparently ignoring that independents and swing voters even exist. Is this what $40 million gets you??

They’re putting the power of the federal government behind those fake Batman guys from the Dark Knight
it is funny how many people affiliated with the secret police have had to say "stop making fun of the secret police, the guy in the tac vest that covers him like a training bra is a hero, he tracked down and subdued two hospice orderlies using only the W-2 forms they file annually"
January 17, 2026 at 6:25 PM
It’s a strategy that relies on convincing your base that you’re concealing your real agenda without tipping off everyone else. Which actually worked for Trump because of a pliant media that wouldn’t call out his obvious bullshit, something the libs won’t have
It's so telling how many people got hyped about Third Way / Searchlight's "reform ICE" messaging simply because Jamelle Bouie normalized it a day before they began their PR campaign
no but forcing them to get more training is a good stopgap measure to sabotage them
January 17, 2026 at 5:04 PM
They think “abolish ice” is the next “defund the police”. But they will be attacked with “abolish ice” regardless. They should just own it because it’s the right thing to do
it actions like this that make people, especially gen z, despise the democratic party. what are we doing here

For those keeping score, Bellingcat, The New York Times Visual Investigation Team, & Washington Post's Visual Forensic team have all published analysis showing the ICE shooter wasn't in the path of Renee Nicole Good’s vehicle when he shot her, contradicting statements by the President & his cronies

If she wanted to hit the guy she wouldn’t have backed up
Using imagery online of the shooting by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, we’ve created an animated sequence which highlights the approximate positioning of officers and vehicles at the scene. The red dot represents the agent who fired the shots. Yellow dots are other agents who arrived at the scene.

The manner in which he’s trying to do it is not working. For decades Democrats have been on the receiving end of vicious contempt from the entire Republican establishment, and still he’s sniveling after his “colleagues” for compromise. He should be denouncing them for refusing to do their duty
if you want the Senate to do something, Senate Republicans must do something.

People are dunking on this but I'm not really sure what plays Schumer has other than to try to peel off Rs.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."
