I'm not especially opposed to driverless cabs, but I'm fucked if I'm giving up my ancestral British right to cross the road anywhere if it's safe for me to do so. "Jaywalking" isn't a thing or a crime here, techbros, so your magic cars will have to learn to deal with that.
Politics London discussing driverless taxis casually referring to “jaywalking pedestrians”.

Jaywalking is not a thing in UK law.

Transport for London and Government had better not be asleep at the wheel on this.

I am enchanted by this 1896 photograph of a French woman cyclist. Paul Seesequasis is an Indigenous Canadian curator, and I recommend following him on Bluesky.
The surprisingly modern look of cyclist Gabrielle Etéogella, 1896. "Organizers were sent to Paris to recruit riders, who were provided with free travel to England, discounts on first class rail travel and free hotel accommodation.[5] Adverts may have also been placed for the racers –

Enid Blyton was categorically Not Woke. She's one of those authors that conservatives love to get upset about, whenever her books are republished with the racism cut out. And yet she wrote a whole series of kids books where one of the main characters is a girl who identifies as a boy.

It's crazy that, in terms of video storage, 50 short years is the difference between losing TV footage forever because video tape was too precious a resource not to reuse, and Ring doorbells keeping everyone's footage on their servers in case they might, at some indeterminate point, pay to view it.

Meta's plan for launching glasses that people can use to secretly identify strangers on the street is to do it "during a dynamic political environment" when people who care about why that's bad are "focused on other concerns."
