The literal DNC chair, everyone
You lying piece of shit. I chaired the Minnesota DFL for all three of your runs here. I watched you lose. Three times. Minnesota never bought your con. And now, as Chair of the DNC, I’m looking forward to ending Trumpism for good in 2028 — not with lies, but with votes. Again.
Trump: "I feel I won Minnesota. I think I won it all three times. Nobody has won it since Richard Nixon won it many many years ago. I won it all three times in my opinion. It's a corrupt state ... I did so well in that state. The people were crying every time after."

/12 If you think it is obvious that the videos prove murder and nobody can say otherwise, your view is based on how you want the system to be, not how it is. It will be brutally hard, fighting inch by inch against what America is, to convict Jonathan Ross. Your feelings don’t enter into it.

There's a group of freaks running the country who think the video is exculpatory because it shows the kind of person that they think should be killed, and they're telling all of us that as a kind of insider vice signaling
In case she deletes it — whoah, Katie Miller. Tell us how you really feel

In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

I really have to emphasize that I do not think that doing freelance messaging consulting for politicians currently in office is particularly helpful or productive

If you think you have identified a better message…just say that thing! You do not have to preface or append “Dems suck” to your beliefs
Democrats need to understand that they can just say “It’s insane to threaten Greenland” and “I don’t think ICE should murder Americans in the street” and you don’t need to pretend to link it to the affordability crisis.

Say bad things are bad.

FWIW “everything is on the table” is verbatim what Jeffries just said when I asked him.

understanding the concept of "political will" was a very important part of my own growth into a politics-understander
I went to law school in part to learn the “how” of changing things, and you mostly end up learning that it’s not “lack of good ideas from smart minds” that prevents us from changing things.

People are experiencing ICE the way we've always experienced the police. It's a new feeling for them. That law enforcement is not here to protect you, but explicitly sent to fuck you up. If we ever get past this fascist takeover, it'll be interesting to see if we're ready to revisit #DefundThePolice

The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says they've been informed by the FBI that US DOJ has said FBI will solely lead the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's killing by a federal officer. State investigators no longer have access to "case materials, scene evidence/investigative interviews"

like, the people who are most deradicalized and depoliticized are white/white-passing, *yes* a white woman being murdered is going to break through to them because we live in a racist society
one thing ive been thinking about is how much of this is also due to the clear as day footage of it happening. maybe it's a bit of both white privilege and the video being shocking on its own? ICE may have killed before but idr any real footage being spread online altho that may be my own ignorance

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

yeah, and its defeatism and nihilism *for the sake of seeming cool and cynical.*

it's a childish impulse, and you should grow out of it as quickly as you can
Second, and probably most importantly, it's tactically wrong. "No point discussing political opposition to fascism, there won't be elections anyway" cedes victory to your enemies. It's defeatism and nihilism.

A lot of replies here (obviously from people not already aware of The Discourse on this point) were genuinely confused variants on "But why, they're right, that's a valid concern." Let me leave a short thread for future readers explaining why that stuff is always unwelcome on here. (1/n)

what are the circumstances under which a regular person (i.e. their job is not media-related) *should* ever agree to speak to a journalist?

as far as I can tell, they are very, very slim.

even in a case where speaking with a journalist offers some perceived benefit, the risks are crazy huge!
I would love to hear from other journalists if you're having this experience: nobody wants to talk on the record or on camera anymore. I'm not just talking about officials, law enforcement, etc.; I mean the "man on the street" refusing to talk even about a mundane story. Is this happening elsewhere?

This also applies to non commercial community spaces for example Discord

Having a growth model where you let anyone in and take a long time kicking people out or tolerate bigoted or gross behavior is actually a great way to build an incredibly unsafe space where no one stays or really participates

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

I like this take, a LOT.
Someone ought to write about how AI has replaced the labor academic wives used to do (which was really just all of it)

Here’s Milton Friedman thanking his wife for, well, writing Capitalism and Freedom:
