You launch an indie game and it instantly works and looks gorgeous. You launch a AAA game and spend 30 minutes in the settings fixing controls and turning off bullshit like film grain or depth of field. The expectation that AAA just works while indies can be fiddly is fully reversed at this point.

I know it’s probably deeply annoying to see Americans go “holy shit, the nakedness of this” after our history of indigenous genocide and global regime change, but what is especially scary about this is that the more recent bullshit alibis at least took some time to drum up and put into place.
